Puréed Carrots... What am I doing wrong?

I tried peaking LO carrots the other day and just couldn't get the consistency anything like the jarred carrots.  Actually, the jarred stuff was sweeter also.  For those that are experts at making your own baby food- are your purees equally as smooth and sweet as the store-bought stuff?

  • I had to add more liquid than usual to carrots. Mine are semi sweet and I use my breastmilk.

  • You need to add more water for carrots, and they will never be as smooth as the jarred carrots. They come a bit smoother than applesauce but similar texture.

  • Just remember not to use the water you cooked the carrots in due to nitrates/nitrites.
