Dessert and app ideas?

We're going to dinner at a friend's house on Friday. It will be the 4 of us plus friend, hubby and their kids, 18, 16, 12 and 8.

Dinner is brats and homemade pierogis.

Any suggestions for an appetizer that's going to appeal to at least most of us?

And chocolate or fruity dessert?

For a traditional dinner like that you can't go wrong with cucumbers and sour cream with dill for an appetizer and fruit-filled crepes for dessert.  Both dishes are sooo good.  Enjoy.

Mmmmm, perogies (that is how we spell it here, I have never seen your spelling, maybe a regional thing???)

I would do a variety of chips, veggies & dips (salsa, hummus, roasted red pepper, artichoke dips) for an appy.

For dessert I would do chocolate dipped strawberries with vanilla bean ice cream. Easy and yummy.
