Success after IF

Teeth grinding

I'm in teeth grinding Hell with Bennett the last couple weeks.  I took him into the dentist last week, a couple months earlier than his scheduled 1st visit, because I noticed his two front teeth looked chipped.  Well more chipped.  He chipped his two upper front teeth at 10 months old.  They seemed to smooth themselves down since then, but recently looked jagged again.

The first thing he asked was if DS grinned his teeth.  He only occasionally did then.  He said lots of kids do and that causes them to get chipped.  Luckily they aren't adult teeth so he wasn't too concerned.  Well ever since then he does it more and more each day.  I feel like I've yelled at him all day about it.  Saying "Bennett stop that with your teeth".  And I don't think he understands why it's bad, he starts crying.  Which is not normal for him.

If you've had experience with this did anything work to get them to stop?  I can hear him clear across the house it's so loud (and like nails on a chalkboard!). Before the noise was just annoying, but now that I know it's causing damage it really bothers me!

Re: Teeth grinding

  • I was told not to pay attention to it when it happened. The more you call it out, the more they do it. Yes, it may take him a few days to stop, but telling him to stop = attention and that makes them do it more. Dillon stopped after about a week - and that week KILLED me!
