And 1 more-Mi re na removal-What to expect?

I'm getting my IUD removed Thursday by a new doctor. My previous OB told me that it probably would be hard to remove because the strong are cut really short (almost too short). Her words were "it will be a fight." And she told me to have it done in the morning and not make any plans the rest of the day because I probably wouldn't feel like doing much.

So what should I do before hand? Take some ibuprofen? Anything else? What should I expect at the removal?

Re: And 1 more-Mi re na removal-What to expect?

  • i had a lot of pain when my first one was put in and taken out. i would take something stronger than an ibuprofen if you have it. i had to sit in the car for about thirty minutes afterward, as i thought i was going to pass out from the pain. and i have a high pain tolerance. but a few hours later, i was totally fine. my period started the next day and i got pregnant with that cycle, so use backup if that's not part of your plan :)

  • I agree with Boxer, take something stronger if you have it. I had mine before I had any kids so I'm a little different situation but nonetheless it hurt like he'll going in and coming out although once it was out, the pain didn't last long.
  • I guess I got lucky because mine wasn't that bad at all.  It wasn't fun, but I don't remember anything other than mild cramps the rest of the day.  Ibuprofen sufficed for me.
