My chest is completely full and coughing is not helping. Has anyone's doctor given them the green light to take Mucinex? If so, any ideas on which type would be safe to take? Thanks in advance!

No both Mucinex and Sudafed are category C drugs. If you have a bad cough eat some spicy foods like buffalo wings if you can, spicy foods have a NATURAL expectorant (which is what Mucinex is) you will not believe how much mucus you will cough up after eating something spicy!! It's amazing!! And it's natural. PLus drink lots of water that helps loosen the mucus...

Sudafed, Robitussin and Robitussin DM are on my approved meds list. I can't stomach liquid meds (gag on them), so I called and asked about taking Mucinex DM. My OB okayed it but said to check with the pharmacist to make sure I got the one with the same active ingredients as Robitussin DM. The pharmacist recommended taking only 1/2 dose, so I took 1 pill every 24 hours.

I was told it varies based on the physician. I too have asthma. I have many issues during pregnancy with my asthma every time and this is my third. I have gotten pneumonia all three times that I have been pregnant.

Guaifenesin, the drug in regular old Mucinex, is category C. You can also get it as Robitussin.
eta: I should also add, though, that it's unclear whether guaifenesin is more effective in thinning secretions than water on its own.
Same here. I had a respiratory infection and my asthma dr and ob said to take Mucinex.
Just call your OB and ask.
No Robitussin or Sudafed is what my doctor told me. He told me absolutely not to mucinex when I asked. Always ask your dr. before taking anything.

How has pregnancy gone for you with the asthma?
