Hi Ladies -
I introduced myself a few months ago, but I have some more info. It turns out that my DH has low count and low motility and that it's likely related to a varicocele. We are going to see a urologist and they may do a repair on the varicocele. From what I have read, it does not sound like that's a miracle cure. When I talked to my OB today, he said that if the surgery does not help us to get PG naturally, we would likely have to go straight to IVF. Do any of you have any experience or have any information about MFI and success after varicocele repair? TIA!
Re: MFI and successful pregnancies?
DH has MFI and we just started the process with a RE. We actually were approved to jump right to IVF vs IUI bc they didnt think it would work with his #s. In the meanwhile dh;s primary dr started him on testerone. I had picked up all of my meds and we were waiting to start this cycle well AF never came....surprise! I am currently 7 wks pg and they think the testerone helped boost his swimmers.
Good luck!
That's awesome!! Congratulations! Thanks for the response
and we didnt have this with ds. took us 7 months to conceive.
We TTC #2 for over 2 years. I had done 6 IUIs and Dh always had post wash counts between 2 million and 9 million (average probably around 4 million).
He went to a uro and discussed the surgery. The uro wanted to do the surgery, but we decided to do my lap surgery, see how it went and then do 2 more injectable cycles before moving to IVF.
Anyway, I got pg 2 cycles after my lap.

Why did you decide to do the lap? Did your HSG show anything? I have suspected Endo and MFI and my RE doesn't think the lap will help.

We have MFI (DH has low count and poor morphology) and we've been extremely fortunately to get pg twice via IUI. DD #1 was conceived on our first non-medicated IUI (super lucky) and DD #2 was conceived on our first cycle with injectables (keep in mind that our RE was maybe a little more aggressive than some and allowed us to do an IUI even though I had 5+ follies - he figured we were safe with DH's low #s).
DH has been to a urologist who did find a small varicocele, but the doctor said that repairing it would not benefit his fertility.
Personally, I would see a RE if I were you. OB's are great for normal pregnancies and deliveries, but don't have as extensive knowledge about infertility.
GL! Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions!
my hsg was clear. i insisted on a lap before continuing on with more injectable cycles. i just felt like something wasn't right. i had midcycle spotting so frequently and very painful periods (all which was new after having ds).
