Sealing PUL?

When you first get diapers with PUL do you have to dry them on high (or something similar) to seal the PUL when you do the first wash before using them w/ baby?

I'm confused - I've read yes and no on this issue.  Thanks.

Re: Sealing PUL?

  • Yes, you have to dry them on high to seal the sewing machine marks.  I usually dry them for 30 minutes.

After the initial prep, I hang dry everything with PUL.  Happy prepping!

  • Do the Planetwise pail liners and wet bags need to be sealed the same way?

  • I never did with either covers or wet bags...just washed warm and hung dry. I haven't had any leaks or wicking. I'm not sure the dryer gets hot enough to actually melt the PUL and if it did I would be afraid it would melt it off of some places too.

  • Hmmm.  To seal or not to seal?  Anybody else have advice or info?  Melting issues?  Leaking issues?
