Random Product Recommendation- nbr

Okay ladies let's just do some product recommendations.  Not baby related stuff, just things you love. I'm curious to know what others consider to be the stuff they can't live without!

1. Dove Sensitive Skin body wash. I'm anemic, I love super hot showers, and our house is really dry.  I'm left with these dry scaly patches all over my body.  I use the body wash and it almost entirely wipes them out- nothing else seems to come close.

2. I love my dustbuster. I use it instead of a dustpan when I sweep the floor, I vacuum up sugar when I spill it in the fridge, it reaches little corners all around my house where the big vacuum cleaner won't get.  And now that we have LO, it comes in handy all the time.

So what do you love?

Re: Random Product Recommendation- nbr

  • Oh I like this post!

    1. I can't live without Neutragena Triple Moisture Conditioner. I've gone from very dark brown to very blonde (not recently) and it kept my hair soft. People tell me all the time how soft and healthy my hair is and I swear it's because of this conditioner.

    2. I love our programmable 12 cup coffeemaker by CoffeeMate (I think that's the brand). We set it at night and wake up to a hot cup of coffee every morning.

    3. Dove body soap, scent doen't matter. It's the only soap that doesn't make me feel dry and that doesn't cause my lady bits to itch and swell.

    4. A plain old tub of vasaline. I keep it in my nightstand and put it on my lips before I go to bed- best lip moisturizer ever!

  • Cans of Campbells condensed cream of mushroom soup

I have never in my life eaten this as a soup; however, it is the most fantastic "fix it fast" meal ingredient. Here are a few of the things I make with it:

Shepherds Pie, Shrimp etoufee, various pasta dishes, chicken and rice casserole, and more.

I also need my Bolthouse Green Goodness for a morning boost of vitamins and minerals.

    Cream of nature shampoo

    Colgate Total toothpaste

    Vaseline Coco butter

Danone Creamy aka yogurt without fruit chunks

  • I could use a good facial moisturizer recommendation.  I can't touch my face with any type of soap or cleanser in the winter.  Even without using anything, when I get out of the shower and for about an hour afterward, my face is red and slouchy, and then gets very dry.  I don't have bad breakouts, but don't wear makeup at all because I do get minor ones when I put stuff on my face.  I wish there was a way to try samples, rather than buying an expensive moisturizer and not like it.

1- We switched to a French press coffee maker after Christmas and I LOVE it.  Easy to clean, and we only make what we're going to drink.  Better coffee, too.

2- s/o dustbusters- I have an Electrolux Ergorapido stick vacuum.  It's cordless and the front pops off as a dust buster.  Best $100 I've every spent.

I've used good old fashioned Olay for sensitive skin  practically my whole life. I also have really sensitive skin that tends to get really dry around the nose and forehead. Olay works wonders.

  • 1. St. Ive's Apricot Scrub.  I have been using this forever and I love how it doesn't make the skin on my face feel dried out after using it, just clean.

    2. Burts Bees Chapstick-I am addicted!

    3.  Resolve stain stick! Used to just be called "satin stick." This gets any and all stains out of my clothing, including the pasta sauce I dropped on my new white sweater this past weekend.

*I agree about the Vaseline!  Best on your lips if they are super dry and I even put it in my nose at night to help my sinus issues. (tip from my ENT)

I like Ponds face moisturizer. I even got my DH hooked on it too! And I love French Presses! The coffee tastes so much better in it and you can stick them in the fridge for ice coffee too!!

  • I like it too!

    1. MAC tinted moisturizer in replace of foundation.   It is light and creamy and I don't even need a mirror to apply it yet it evens out my skin tone.  It also has SPF.  I am thinking I will even use it in the hospital to keep my skin soft and not look like a crazy person in pics.  Its expensive ($30) but I only have to buy it a few times a year.

    2.  My Dyson vacuum (sp?) cleaner.  Another expensive item, but well worth the money, especially with dogs.  Even my husband loves it, which has him vacuuming more than me!

    3. Swifter 360 Dusters.  I can't believe I once lived without them.  We have dark furniture and a mostly-white beagle.

    4. Tervis cups.  Keeps drinks hot or cold and they come in a million fun designs.

  • GREAT idea for a post, GreenGirl! Right up there with the "Frugal Mamas/Moms on a Budget" idea that came up on Friday.  Smile

    1. The Shark Navigator upright canister vacuum cleaner. Works just as well as a Dyson (NEVER loses suction, no matter how packed it gets or how filthy the filters become) AND it's less than half the price of a Dyson, too! We have four dogs and live on a wooded five-acre plot of land, so we have a LOT of cleaning to do from day to day as a result. The filters (all SIX of them!!!) are completely washable. I put the soft sponge filters in a laundry garment bag to keep them safe from wear and tear, then take those and the two hard filters, toss them in the front-loading washing machine on quick wash, and VOILA! Clean as the day I bought them. Just let the air dry completely, pack them back into the canister, and you're ready to roll.

    2. Finish All-in-1 Powerball detergent tabs. Before we got our new dishwasher (our much-beloved former dishwasher, a 20-year-old KitchenAide workhorse, died a slow, horrible death two summers back), we used the homemade formulas you can find on green living websites, usually a mixture of washing soda, borax, baking soda, and natural liquid soap. This newer washer doesn't like those mixes so much, so we had to find something else that would clean our dishes just as effectively. I swear, these things could take rust off a car bumper if you figured out how to fit a car bumper into your dishwasher! Can't live without them, and since we buy them in 90-count boxes from Sam's Club, they are very cost effective for us. Haven't had to rerun a load that didn't get quite clean enough since the switch!

    3. ETA: Seconding the suggestion of Resolve Stain Stick.(Used to be called Spray 'n Wash Stain Stick; kinda forgot about the name change when I talked about it last week in a different post.) I swear, other than having to use Dawn Dish Detergent directly on a few oily wood-working related stains on mine and husband's clothes, there is NOTHING this little stick can't handle in terms of stains. Grass, blood, food. . .okay, maybe ink, but I've honestly never had an ink stain in the past seven-plus years, so I'm not really a good gauge on that front.

  • If you have an ULTA anywhere near you, I love the ULTA professional nail polish line.  They have great colors and usually last about 2 weeks without chipping.  And they're much cheaper than OPI or China Glaze.

I have a Shark Navigator, too, and LOVE it! We have two pups - one is very furry - and it gets every last dog hair. We haven't had it very long, and the last time I used it, I was thinking it may be about time to clean the filters. Thanks for the tip about putting them in a garment bag in the wash!!

  • 1. I actually put Crisco on my face at night in the winter. I can definitely tell a difference when I use it. I have also used it on my cracked dry heels.

    2. I also love plain old Olay for daytime moisturizer

    3. Soaking your baby's clothes in OxiClean and warm water for a few hours will take out a whole mess of stains. Just as an FYI, once LO starts solids, you should rinse any spills or spitup marks asap, especially carrots. Oh the carrots are the worst!

Both Cetaphil and Purpose are great, reasonably priced brands for sensitive skincare, and you can find them in any drugstore. The Purpose gentle cleansing wash is soap and oil-free, and your skin feels super clean after you use it.

  • 1) Vaseline - I wear it on my lips every night.  It's a must-have in my life!

    2) Always unscented panty-liners - love these!

    3) Pantene detangler spray - it works wonders and I've been using it for years

    4) Head and Shoulders 2-in-1 shampoo/conditioner - it's the ONLY shampoo and conditioner that leaves my hair shiny and smooth, and not greasy!

5). Lysol disinfectant wipes - I use these all the time!

  • 1.  Neutrogena Clear Pore Cleanser/Mask- I have tried other face washes and this is my favorite by far.  I love that it can be used as a mask too, I do that about once a week.  I have sensative skin too.

    2.  Magic Eraser Sponge- works great on my glass top stove when stuff burns on it.  I also like it for marks on the walls and other random things.

    3.  Windex Multisurface Cleaner- I love that I can take it in the bathroom and use it on pretty much everything from the mirror, to the counter, to the toilet! The fewer cleaning products I have to buy and lug around with me while I clean the better!
