Still contracting, but not enough to go to L&D

Dang, how long can this go on! Yesterday night they were anywhere from 3-5 minutes apart but not super painful. They kind of tapered off. I had a few that woke me up overnight, only about two or three of them were very painful.

Again today! Every 5 minutes or so, just lots of pressure. My OB said at this point if I go into labor they won't stop it and I can shoot for a vbac. Ideally, 37 weeks would be better. But can I really have contractions like this for 2.5 more weeks?!

  • Ugh. That sounds tiring. I hope for your own sake you don't have contractions for 2.5 weeks.

Good luck, lady! I hope your little girl stays put a few more weeks!

  • I was so exhausted yesterday! It's like my muscles are working out without my consent.

  • Unfortuantely, yes.  Sounds like latent labor.  Hopefully, it won't continue like this for long though.

  • This isn't going to make you feel better but I've been having on and off contractions for 2 weeks while on bedrest. Some are 5 min apart and then last night they were consistently 10 min apart for hours. I can sympathize with you on how exhausting it is even if they aren't actually painful.

  • I think you can unfortunately. I was in L&D on Friday with contractions that were painful and 2 minutes apart but I was not progressing. They went away Saturday, and were back part of yesterday and today but not as close together. It is exhausting!! So sorry you have to deal with this as well.

  • Not that I'm glad any of you are going through the same thing, but at least we're not alone.

    This part is not fun!

  • I've been having contractions that are not painful but with lots of pressure since 30w. My Dr checked me at my appointment yesterday because they have been getting stronger and I happened to have a really strong one when she went to check the HB and measure me. She said my cervix is tight at the baby's head is still floating so thats a plus. I have a Repeat c-section scheduled in 3 weeks but my Dr said if I go into labor on my own they wont stop it and they would just do the c/s at that point. I really just want to be able to wait out the next 3 weeks and have LO when scheduled and it is SO frustrating to have these contractions when they arent even doing anything to progress me. I totally know what you're going through!

  • I am having them too and it is really annoying.  I went to the dr today and she said for a 2nd time mom, contractions should be 5 minutes apart and pretty painful before it is actual labor.

I had them off and on all weekend, sometimes 3 min apart and for hours at a time, but because I was still fairly comfortable and they would taper off with rest, they were BH.  I feel your pain, but yes, people can have them for weeks.  My cousin had them start at 31 wks and she delivered at 37 wks.  Yuck!
