Need advice about the carriers we've registered for...

So we've put 2 carriers on our Amazon registry - The Beco Gemini and the Baby K'Tan. Are these different enough to need both? I want to wear the baby as a newborn and it seems like both of these would allow for newborn carry - is that the case?

I feel like my DH is more likely to wear him in the Gemini, but I like the idea of the softness of the K'Tan for myself. I thought about a Moby Wrap, but the K'tan seems much easier to use and put on.

I highly doubt either of these will be purchased off our registry, so we'll probably end up ordering them ourselves, so I'd really like to make sure they are both worth it. Reviews of either or both? Is getting both a good idea? Thanks ladies!

  • Definitely different enough to need both. We used a K'Tan with DD as a newborn and switched to a Boba (similar to Beco) when she was around 4-5 months. I've been told you can use a Boba/Beco with a newborn but think it just depends on how big your LO is (DD was 6 lbs 9 oz at birth and seemed too tiny for the first 4-6 weeks for me to feel comfortable with her in it). I will say I didn't think the K'Tan was all that much easier than a Moby and didn't have as much adjustability (ie, DH couldn't use the K'Tan since it was sized for me, but he would have used the Moby if we'd had one) - so for any future LOs, I'll probably get a Moby to use instead of the K'Tan.

Wraps DO have a learning curve, but once you figure them out, they are AMAZING.

This! My moby took me a while to learn but its amazing! I will be very sad when DD outgrows it

  • Definitely get both!  I used a moby the first few weeks and then started using a RS.  I started wearing her in the gemini at around 6 weeks.  If I had it to do over, I would buy a RS and SSC and skip the moby.  The RS was just as comfy and way easier!
