I've heard it's fine while pregnant/nursing. My grandmother-in-law gave it to my son for gas when he was firstborn (watered down and cooled), and it worked like a charm. Old school grandmas have so many tricks!
interesting that you mention this- my childbirth class actually had a whole slide dedicated to 'DO NOT drink chamomile tea!'.. it can trigger labor, which might be fine, but the nurse said that it causes extremely strong contractions that are too close together, resulting in stress to the baby, and much more likely to endin a C-section.
im sure that doesnt happen to everyone, but she felt the need to go over it in detail so i would just keep it in mind.
I work in a tea shop, and our trainer told us that chamomile tea was not for infants or pregnant women. Chamomile is a ragweed, so unless you are 100% certain your child does not have a ragweed allergy, avoid giving it to children. He also said that ragweed causes contractions, however the uterus is always contracting, whether you feel it or not. It will not induce labor, just as certain OWTs do not actually induce labor. If you body is ready for labor, it may help egg it on, but it won't cause it.
