Mei Tai

I would like to get a Mei Tai carrier but there are so many to choose from. I already have a Moby Wrap, Ergo Carrier  and Maya Sling . I am VERY excited about baby wearing. Can you reccomend which Mei Tai is the best and might offer different features or feel than the three I already have....

Re: Mei Tai

  • no advice, but I'll be watching this thread.  I've decided to go with a mei-tai along with my K'tan and was going to ask the same question.  I've been looking at BabyHawk and the Kozy Carrier.... good luck!  I just love all the patterns!

  • I can't compare it to other Mei Tais, but I really love my Babyhawk.

  • The headrest on the Babyhawk can be very helpful.  It provides head support when you need it for you LO.  It can also be folded back when you don't need it.

I wouldn't recommend the Kozy for a newborn.  The body is very big, which makes it great for a toddler.  I have pics of both in use if you're interested in seeing them.

  • This is back when he was still too little for legs out - he's froggied up in there.

  • how long can you keep him froggied?  is that comfy for them?  Sry for the silly questions, my only experience with baby wearing is with a K'tan when they are that young.

i kept him froggied until he wouldn't froggy anymore. Once he started trying to stand in it instead of bending his knees up, I let him go legs out. I've never been carried in it, so I can't speak to comfort, but he sure seems comfortable. He doesn't fuss and 99% of the time he falls right to sleep. Yesterday we went on a 2 hour walk and he slept the entire time.

  • Lol... Thank you!  I'm so excited to be getting a mei tai.  I really wanted one with DS last time around but we didn't do it.  It's a chunk of money for us to spend so I want to make sure I make the best choice possible....

  • I recently got a BabyHawk, I LOVE it!!!! The only other carrier I have is a sleepy wrap so I can't compare it to any other Mei Tais....the BabyHawk is very well made and I have found it easy to use (although I am still trying to master getting my LO on in a back carry!)

  • I have a Moby, a Maya Sling and now a BabyHawk and I love the BabyHawk I have not used any of my other carriers since I got it right after New Years. It is comfy for both DD and I. DH also likes it better than our other carriers.

  • We use the Baby Hawk Mei tai and LOVE IT.  we also use the Moby because my LO loves to be snuggly close... def. check it out!  I found the Ergo had too much fabric and was too big for our DD so we returned it.. if we feel we need it I will try and get one used but so far the Mei Tai and Moby are great for us.
