dh woke me up to the news that blackbaud is buying co.nvio. i'm sure he will tell me more later but things like this always make me so nervous.
does anyone know more than what is in the news? are people at con.vio seeing this as a good thing?

Re: any c.o.n.v.i.o people on here?
they told the employees at 8. K is with their sales team today so i am sure he will come home with more info.
i just wonder what people think about being acquired by their competitor. to go from being head-to-head at nearly every sales deal to working together? must be odd, ya know?
So here is my take - BB is losing out in the cloud space. They don't have a play in the online space like Con~vio does. That's where Con~vio has made their play and had been doing well. (I know a lot about their Com.mon G.rou.nd product it's built on the platform in the cloud that I work in.) I'm surprised a bit that BB bought them, but it's a smart move. The 2 together will be a powerhouse in the NPO space.
That said - I'm sure there is some nervousness around it. I'd be nervous too. You never know how these things will shake out. But like pp said, BB needs Con~vio's offering - particularly around the online offerings that make Con~vio strong. I doubt the CV products are going away. But I can understand if your DHs consulting business comes from them...that's definitely something to watch and see how the landscape may be affected.
yes, we talked earlier and the biggest question people have right now product wise is what will happen to com.mon groun.d. that is a big chunk of the consulting. it is an interesting pairing for sure.
Just a random FYI - if he's ever looking, let me know.
We don't consult on CG but it's in a similar space.
Good luck. I'll be interested to see how this all goes down.
