Upstate NY Babies

being 21&Pregnant.

I've found that now that I'm expecting all my friends have vanished. It's hard to even make plans with any friends I do have because our interests are very different now. It's not that I'm extremely sad because I understand people grow apart, but I feel very alone lately. I was wondering if any one else has experienced this? Thank you.

I think you'll probably find more people there who can relate. Most of us are older here.

    Ahh I love you

  • It can be tough for people to relate, when they aren't having/don't have kids.  I can definitely relate to that.  While you're focusing on preparing for your baby, your friends are probably in a different place.  It is important for you as a mom to connect with other moms, it really helps to have that support system, and to talk to other people experiencing the same thing, having a sounding board, etc.

    Me too.....=)

  • Assuming you arent a troll, or that this isnt MUD...

I think its important for you to remember a few things:

    1. Your friends are in a VERY different place from you right now. Their priorities are totally different from yours. Of course they cant relate, and they probably arent interested in baby talk like strollers, carseats, baby clothes

    2. They may feel uncomfortable around you. There are LOTS of things you can still do with your friends - go see a movie, have dinner, grab a latte. These are things that should transcend a pregnancy. You all need to make effort!

good luck, and feel free to ask questions here.

  • Totally true. I'm working on finding some mommy friends. I know I'm going to love being a mom, but it would be better if I had a couple friends to do mommy/baby stuff with. :) Thank you for your input it helped a lot. Big Smile
