Austin Babies

and also, could i get some dust for DD?

I hate to even post about this when I was a bigfat drama queen once today already (thanks, btw, for the advice!)  But something's really worrying me and I believe in the power of Nestie dust.  DD's been bruising easily, often when I don't remember her even hurting herself, and has a particularly weird bruise on her underarm. Because I'm an idiot, I consulted Dr. Google.  Now I have myself totally convinced she has some horrible disease.  And maybe I cried 10 times today.  I called the pedi, we're going to do bloodwork tomorrow to be safe...but in the meantime, I'd love heaps of "nothing wrong dust".  And prayers, too.

I'm SURE it's nothing, she's been climbing out of the crib and uses her armpit to fling herself out.  And she's got a 3 y/o brother.  And she's a toddler.  They bruise, right?  I'm so worried.  Sad  STUPID GOOGLE.

  • I will throw some dust your way, and I think its good you're looking into this for peace of mind.. but I am sure it will be nothing. :)

Good luck, and keep us posted.

  • Loading the player...
  • Lots of dust :)

I'm sure its nothing.  She's a toddler with a brother.  Of course she has bruises!  And some people just bruise easily.  I have to take one helluva hit to get a bruise but my bff back in high school, you'd just tap her and she'd get a bruise.

Maybe she's just low in iron or something, what is it that causes easy bruising if you're low in?

  • Lots of dust for her (and you)!

My DD is constantly covered in bruises... Her shins look like she should be a UFC fighter. She never knows how she got them. And I bruise if someone looks at me the wrong way.

    And google sucks.

  • Thanks, girls.  These were just the kinds of replies I needed.

  • I bruise pretty easy, but my mom gets huge dark purple ones on her arms and hips/thighs all the time. No idea where she got them from. And she isn't super clumsy. She also has had plenty of bloodwork that shows nothing. That's just how she is and always has been.

I think I bruise more easily because I'm so fair. And your DD is pretty fair, right? So I imagine it doesn't take much to see one. Especially since, as pp said, she is a toddler and has a mischievous older brother.

That being said, I might freak out too, not because there is any valid reason to, but because I freak out easily. So I would be doing the same thing and I will give you dust to calm your mind!

  • Oh, I just want to give you a hug!! Lots of "it's nothing" dust!!

And, I'm sure it's nothing. DS gets actually hurt, like where he cries maaaybe once a month, yet his knees and shins are just covered in bruises. I'm sure it's just part of being a toddler!  (Side note, I think V's birthday is just a couple of days before my son's, which is 2/19)

  • Yeah, I can't tell you how many times I've convinced myself, with the help of google, that the puffiness around my DD's eyes, or a sallowness to her complexion, was the result of a blood disease. Like, I've cried over it. Amazing how effectively children's Alleg.ra cured her last terminal illness. Fortunately our pedi is very patient with me! (ETA: oodles of it's nothing dust!)
  • ::dust:: for your sweet girl.  I'm sure she's just fine!
  • Just the other day I was checking out my symptoms on webmd. They gave me this long list of possible illness, at the top of which was "common cold." The last one? Plague. Not even joking. Alternative names: Black Death and Bubonic Plague. They recommended that I contact the CDC. The internet can be a scary place sometimes, lol!

Sooo anyway, I think it's good that you're taking her in but I'm sure she's fine! FWIW I bruise really easily too. I think I have low iron. I want to say that's not all that uncommon for kids?

  • Buckets of dust coming your way!  This would freak me out, too, but I'm sure it is nothing.  I spit on Google!
