Fresh fruit especially ones with skins. Prunes or other dried fruit. High fiber cereals, bread, etc. When you increase the fiber content make sure you are providing enough fluids. Too much fiber and not enough liquid make you more constipated.
Apple juice, pear juice, diluted or undiluted. Prune juice if you want a real heavy hitter!
DD1 had chronic constipation for a year and these are all things we had to try.
Good luck!
He seems to drink enough liquids. I'm betting it's the dairy.
I'm thinking I will try the pear juice - assuming I can find it.
The P Fruits will make you go Poop. PEaches, plums, pears, prunes, peas. Yes, I know Peas aren't fruits. Fresh or dried, a mix is best. And watch the carbs, bread is constipating.
Your siggy is gone now that I'm replying, so excuse my spacing. So, if they're not walking yet, do as much bicycling and twisting as you can. Really work his little tummy like he were power walking. Twist his hips to rotate his trunk and bicycle. Get things moving!
If they're walking, work on stairs, walking, bending down to touch toes and then reach up into the sky, repeat.
If they're using the potty, try putting their feet up and legs straight out. This position facilitates pooping, which is why kids *** in their bumbo constantly.

I didn't read the other replies, but L's doc suggested watered down carrot juice and it works EVERY time.
Little Man (4 years old---holy cow) He's the single greatest thing I've done in my life and reminds me daily of how fun (and funny) life can be. He's turned out pretty swell for having such a heartless and evil mother.
Usually there's a pretty satisfying poop within hours of the juice. I would do one more "dose" of juice the next day, and then concentrate on getting actual fruit (dried or fresh) or more veggies into his system if you can. I again cannot remember how oldhe is. Siggys should show up in the reply window!
He should poop a bit more for a few days, and then everything should settle down. I would give him probiotics at the beginning (for the entire duration) of every antibiotic now since he's so sensitive.

Re: Paging Dr BOTB - TMI poop question
He does eat a fair amount of dairy.
Thanks everyone for the tips.

Thanks! He has tried peaches before.

Another question - If I go with juice - how long does he need to drink it? Does it flush out his system? ie - he poops a big one, and then he's ok?
He was on antibiotics in December, and that did a number on his tummy. This is my first time dealing with his current issue.
