d iva cup users help please (total tmi)

Okay, this is my first day to try using this thing. I put it in this morning and just went to take it out and nothing. That's weird, I didn't bleed all day(see, told ya, tmi)?! I decide to just leave it out and then...instant bleeding.

Did I do something wrong or do you think that's normal??? And, it's totally not *normal* for me to not bleed for an extended period during the day, fyi.

Thanks for listening to my tmi. I really like the concept of it, I just hope I can figure it out. Surely there is a learning period, right??

  • I'm certainly not an expert as I only used mine for a day before freaking out about it possibly pulling out my IUD...  but I don't see how it could prevent you from bleeding.  Maybe just a weird fluke/coincidence?

I've seen conflicting info.  It ends up having pretty strong suction as you pull it out.  I figured I'd just be extra careful about breaking suction before tugging down, but in practice I had a hard time doing it.  DivaCup says:

Please use caution when using any internal feminine hygiene product with an IUD as there is a rare possibility of dislodging it.  Many of our customers use The DivaCup and an IUD simultaneously and have not reported any problems, but we recommend that you become familiar with your particular IUD risks (such as the body expelling the IUD, etc.).

As with any gynecological concerns, please consult your physician prior to using a menstrual cup.
