I'm thinking this might help me manage a newborn and chase a 2.5 year old. But I need an easy one to put on when I am by myself and looking at them online is making it hard to tell which one is right. So is there somewhere that will let me try these things on?

Re: Is there anywhere I can try on baby slings/carriers?
In terms of stores, I second New Baby Products. They are awesome! I tried on my Baby K'tan there before I got it.
I've also heard great things about the Koala Mommas meetings which would be a great chance to try out different carriers. I haven't been to one, but I wish I had. https://www.koalamommas.com/

The koalamomma meetings are great, I highly recommend them. I wear dd all the time, and have since she was born - I loved the ring sling at first, and moved on to the ergo and beco. I use the beco now pretty much solely. I have a mei tai which I don't use, and is actually brand new (used less than 5 times), I would sell it to you if you find you like that kind.
I highly recommend Amber from Heavenly Hold. She sells all of the major brand carriers out of her home and you can go to her house and try them on or even rent a few different ones to see which carrier is the best fit for you. I am so glad I went over to her house and tried on different carriers, because I was set on the Ergo (judging by how popular it was), but after trying it on, it just wasn't the right fit for my short torso...I ended up getting the Beco Butterfly instead.

If you are unable to contact her on her website, she also has a facebook page.
This is great! I wish I would have known her before having my first. What a great business.
