1st Trimester

New to Pregnancy and Board. MS HELP!

Hi I am Kayla! I am new to everything with a baby! I just found out I am 7 weeks pregnant! Super excited , but feeling miserable. I went to Vegas last week and thought maybe I was homesick, but I cannot hold down any warm foods and it is not just in the morning. ITS ALL DAY LONG. I feel like I have drank a full bottle of wine and went to bed every.single.night! Is there anything that I can do to make myself feel better.

  • Hi Kayla, I am Livvy. Congratulations! Try corn tortillas wrapped in a wet towel or paper towel and put them in the microwave for like 10-15 seconds, for some reason the blandness of the tortillas helps to settle my stomach. Other than that, just try different foods and see what helps best for you. Remember to rest as much as possible but at the same time get to walking at least 20 min/day and do your best to keep up daily with your prenatal vitamins. Good luck!!!

  • I get really bad morning sickness after meals and at night so I went out and bought dried ginger root (it's candied, so it's kind of sweet) and it is a LIFESAVER! It works in minutes and holds me over until the next morning or meal. I also found out that there's certain foods that don't make me feel like hurling at the thought of them and I stick with those when I'm feeling particularly ill - for me it's fruit smoothies!

  • In the first trimester I just tried to get as much rest as possible and ride it out.  I was sick all day but did a little better when I kept myself busy at work. I know a lot of women were prescribed zofran from their doctors which helped.  When I was feeling sick I sucked on a jolly rancher. Good luck and welcome!

  • Thanks so much!! I am very active and run on a daily basis! My first Appt. is not until Feb 6th. So I am in limbo of what I can do and cannot. I am still running and have started taking vitamins, other than that just living life normally! Getting ready to tell the world :)
  • The only thing that has helped me (and I have tried just about EVERYTHING) is 1/2 a Unisom first thing in the morning.  It's not a cure, but it definetly takes the edge off and allows me to function like a human being.  It does not make me drowsy and my OB says it's perfectly safe.  Good luck.
