UGH

What a way to start my day off...

I was woken by a phone call from my credit card's fraudulent charges department. I wasn't too worried since I've gotten these calls before and they've always been legit charges. Fine with me, I'd rather they be overzealous. Except that this time they were right, someone charged over $1000 on my card!

Thankfully they reversed all the charges, and cancelled the number right away, but still... crappy. And now I'm without a card for 5 - 7 days. Angry Off to get cash to tide me over.

  • Ugh is right. I have been the unfortunate victim of this too. Glad they caught it early and are reversing things for you without much fuss. I hope your week is going better now!
  • oh man! that happened to me, but luckily I caught it myself through Mint when whoever it was had only made 3 charges, two small test charges with the number (like, a few dollars) and then one other smaller charge, and I called my CC company to report it and have the card frozen. it SUCKS, no matter how much it is! I'm glad they caught it and were able to get your card frozen and the charges reversed. I'm 99% sure that in my case it was a restaurant server/employee who stole the number, because that card isn't one I normally use. I happened to use it at a restaurant near work one day, and it was not long after that the fraudulent charges showed up.
