Pregnant after a Loss

Reglan questions... help?

So the OB agreed to let me try switching to Reglan.  I started taking it on Friday and have become a total zombie.  I don't know if this is one of the normal side effects or not, but this morning (well, make that this afternoon when I finally woke up for good), I could barely find the motivation to move from my bed to the couch, where I have spent the entire day so far.

Is this normal?

I am really tempted to say the hell with it and go back to Zofran.  I was still puking (and am still puking on Reglan too), but at least I was a semi-functional puking machine.

  • I am sorry your still not feeling well. I hope you feel better soon. I don't have advice on reglan or zofran but sounds like if I were you I would be going back on the zofran so I could still function! Maybe give it a few more days?

  • I am sorry that you are feeling so crummy....nausea really stinks.

Unfortunately, many of the meds used as anti-emetics (such as Zofran, Phenergan and Reglan) can have the side effect of drowsiness.

I hope you start to feel better soon.

  • I don't have any experience but I just read a post on the first tri about this medication and some of the really rough side effects.  I hope you start feeling better and find a solution soon!

  • Have you tried phenergan?  I'm sorry you're still feeling bad!  I was still puking with Zofran (and occassionally with phenergan).  To this day, if I'm going to puke, then I'm going to puke.  But the days in between are farther apart.  I couldn't take Zofran.  The phenergan helped me maintain though if I took it like clock work.  I hope you feel better soon!!!

  • I've only taken Phenergan and Zofran, but yes, sadly the side effects can make you drowsy. Zofran even blurred up my vision because I would get to a state where I was just so tired. I'm currently on Phenergan because the Vicodin I'm on makes me so sick and it definitely runs a toll on me. Luckily, I only need them at night right now. Sometimes during the day, a Dr. Pepper would help me.

  • Thanks, ladies!

I am going to give the Reglan until tomorrow to start working, I guess.  If the drowsiness doesn't lay off, I am going to have to switch back.  Luckily, I have the day off tomorrow to see how it goes, but I have to be able to function at work on Tuesday, so if it's not doing any better by then... back to Zofran.

@JohnnysJune- when I asked about other options, I specifically mentioned Phenergan, but she suggested Reglan.  Maybe I should call and ask about Phenergan?  Ugh... they are going to get so sick of hearing from me.  Tongue Tied

  • I'm sorry your feeling so yucky Monica. I took Reglan with my last pregnancy and I didn't get sleepy and woozy, but I have heard of this happening. I think it's a pretty common side effect. Maybe on the days you have to work you can take the Zofran and then when you have days off you can take the Reglan. I hope you feel better soon!
