Chostochondritis

Does anyone else suffer from this? I was having major chest pains a few years ago, usually sharp pain when I inhaled. My doctor said it was chostochondritis, or "slipping rib syndrome", and was able to get the rib back in place. I've had no pain since, but now that things are starting to shift upwards, it's acting up again. I know I have to go to the chiropractor, but I can only imagine that the bigger I get, the worse it will be.

Re: Chostochondritis

  • I had problems with that few years ago. Does Tylenol help? Ibuprofen helped my pain when I had it but of course you can't take that. Sometimes I would use a heating pad and that helped too. Other than that I think just resting and trying not to do any lifting or heavy work so the inflammation calms down some.

  • They think this is what I suffered from.  the day after I was discharged from having DD I fell to the floor from severe chest pain.  I told DH to call 911 because I thought I was having a heart attack or had a blood clot.

The chiro helped so much.  I also would lie still and use an ice pack when I felt the pain coming on and that did help.

  • I had this a couple of years ago and really the only thing you can do is to keep a warm compress on your chest since you can't take an anti-inflammatory such as Ibuprofen. It is very painful and I actually thought I need to go to the doctor it hurt so bad.  You may want to call the doctor and see what other options you have.  It took a couple of weeks for mine to completely go away.
