I try to stick to the organic pouches but have a hard time finding single ingredient ones. I do mix the obv sweet potatoes, pears, apples, carrots, peas blah blah but I see these pouches with lentils, spinach, broccoli, tomato, blueberries etc that have never came by themselves. I've not to give LO strawberries or citrus but nothing about the others. Just wondering what everyone else is doing or did around 7 months.
Re: when to move onto different flavors that don't come in single purees?
I thought the same thing re: trying combos when I haven't tested the individual foods. My pediatrician said to avoid citrus and strawberries and any allergic foods in the family. I was skeptical, but I also wanted LO to be able to try different foods.
So, I took the plunge last week (LO was 7 months on Tuesday). I got the Earth's Best Apple & Apricots, Pears & Rasberries, Banana Mango, Lentil & Rice, Apples & Blueberries, and Sweet Potato Corn Carrot (that's Plum Baby).
I've tried them all except for the lentil, and no problems so far! LO LOVES pears and peaches, so the pear/rasberry combo was a big hit. The Banana Mango was too, although bananas constipate him so I try to feed them only in moderation.
I really want to try the purple carrot pouch by Plum Baby next:) It looks so fun!
ohh great! I mean I don't think there would be a probem with pasta or beans but idk i just remember jumping the gun a little early and he had a horrible tummy ache. I tried the chicken and sweet potato with DS yesterday he loved it but kept flinching and then i saw that apricot was listed as one of the ingredients (he does not take to apricot, mango, or peaches) but i am trying to find a meat pouch that doesn't have a million ingredients not having any luck. bought chicken puree from beech nut and WHOA it looked terrible and super thick i threw it out
This is what I do for the most part. But now that we have gotten 4 months into solids with no reactions I basically give her what I want and hope for the best! WE do have a peanut allergy in the family so I stay away from nuts but that's about it.
As for the meat- I have never given any of my girls pureed meats. uggh- looks disgusting. I do it as finger foods. She has had turkey, chicken, ham and today had ground beef for the first time.
Same here, too. I know he's fine with most of the basic fruits and vegetables, so I should be able to identify the cause if a mix food bothers him. Squash gives my LO serious gas (or did at Thanksgiving when he tried), but I'm going to try a mix soon to see if he tolerates it better in smaller quantities (and since he'd older).
I haven't done any meat yet. The Earth's Best seems promising, but IDK. I may just hold out until 8 or 9 months and give him soft chicken and turkey as finger foods.
Have you seen those jars of Gerber meat sticks?! OMG, made me vomit in my mouth! I try to buy organic, especially the Dirty Dozen, and the meat sticks freaked me out so much ha ha.
I just bought a baby puree book because I too am vicariously bored for her LOL. But I'm also hesitant to give her too many foods in one serving without having had introduced them first alone. We have no known food allergies so I'm hoping that she doesn't either. I suppose I should just bite the bullet and wing it....
I'm interested to know how your little one hadnles turkey, chicken etc. You don't puree it? I don't think my LO is ready for that step yet but I'm interested to know how she was
