My husband likes Asher (b/c he wants to call him Ash), I don't. We both agree on James, although I fear it is a little too Christian, and I'm Jewish. I like Samuel and Benjamin, but he nixed Samuel and said maybe Benjamin for middle name. I love Gabriel and he said no way.
My friends say, wait until you have the baby, he'll come around . But I know how hard it was to leave the hospital with our first b/c we couldn't decide! We also wouldn't mind something nature inspired, especially ocean/water inspired, but I can't think of anything. If anyone has any suggestions?
Otherwise, if we stick to the above, any votes?
James Asher Wood
Benjamin Asher Wood
Benjamin James Wood
James Samuel Wood
James Benjamin Wood
?????
Our first is Joshua Cole, though we just call him Cole. We should have saved Joshua for this time ha.
Re: 1 wk to c-section and no name
I love the name James. I like James Asher Wood.
Chemical Pregnancy
I love Benjamin Asher but James Samuel is also nice.
James is actually the Latin form of Jacob if that helps you at all.
I like James Asher or Benjamin Asher best out of your combos. I personally don't like sibsets with same first letters but since you call your S Cole, it is kind of different.
I googled male nature names and came up with this in addition to pps suggestions - sorry, most have to do with meadows and such rather than water:
AINSLEY: Scottish habitational surname transferred to unisex forename use, composed of the Old English elements ansetl "hermitage" and leah "meadow, pasture," hence "hermitage meadow."
BRADLEY: English habitational surname transferred to forename use, composed of the Old English elements br?d "broad" and leah "meadow, woodland clearing," broad meadow."
BROOKS: English surname transferred to forename use, meaning "of the brook."
EVEN (Hebrew: ?????): Hebrew name meaning "stone." Compare with another form of Even.
HADLEY: English surname transferred to unisex forename use, composed of the Old English elements h?? "heathland, heather, wasteland" and leah "clearing, field, meadow" hence "heather meadow."
HOLDEN: English surname transferred to forename use, composed of the Old English elements hol "deep, hollow, sunken" and denu "valley," hence "deep valley."
LACHLAN: Variant spelling of Scottish Gaelic Lachlann, meaning "lake-land."
LINCOLN: English surname transferred to forename use, from the name of the city of Lincoln, which was originally called Lindum colonia, meaning "lake colony."
RILEY: English surname transferred to unisex forename use, derived from a place name composed of the Old English elements ryge "rye" and leah "clearing, meadow," hence "rye meadow."
WESLEY: English habitational surname transferred to forename use, from a contracted form of Westley, meaning "western meadow."
WESTLEY: English habitational surname transferred to forename use, from the name of various places called Westley, composed of the Old English elements west "west" and leah "meadow, pasture," hence "western meadow."
I like James Asher and Benjamin Asher, but I don't think you should give your son a name that you're not both crazy about.. Here are some ideas you might like:
Aaron Daniel
Daniel Aaron
Jacob Asher
Joseph Asher
Jesse
Josiah
Joseph Asher
Caleb

Your dilemma is the same as mine!
We both love Ari and like James but think it sounds way too Christian (we are both Jewish).
So I think we are leaning towards Benjamin.
My vote goes to Asher Benjamin or Benjamin Asher. I also love Samuel Asher or Samuel Jacob.
James Wood is a big time actor.....
I love Benjamin Asher
This is funny to me because I would assume someone with the name Ari is definitely Jewish. hmmmm

I meant James as a middle name with Ari as a first. Our last name is not Jewish at all so we want both fn and mn to be traditionally Jewish.

Responding to everyone (not in a great order) b/c I somehow couldn't find my old post until now!
That is precisely why my husband wants Asher - to be Ash Wood. But I didn't think about it burning down - I was just thinking about Ash being a type of tree. I'll make that point to hopefully cut out that name option haha.
I like the name Ari too but my ex is named Ari . I'd say you should go for it.
Unfortunately all the naturey names don't sound very natural to my background and I'm not in love with any of them.
I guess I'm totally out of it and totally didn't know about James Wood the actor, even though I live in LA ha. And I don't know what to do about the BJ Wood issue with Benjamin James - will he get teased for ever?
Benjamin James Wood
Benjamin Asher Wood
Benjamin Evan Wood
Samuel Asher Wood (major compromising on both sides)
are currently what I'm thinking...
