Losing teeth?

DD fell on the playground yesterday and smacked her mouth pretty hard - and the teachers noticed her teeth were loose. Cue freakout and trip to the dentist.. alas the xrays showed that her teeth were already loose because her permanent teeth are "right there".. the accident just drew attention to the fact they were loose.

Anyone else losing teeth early?  DD's not 5 until May!

Re: Losing teeth?

  • Ben knocked a tooth out last August. He had just turned 4 in June. We called the dentist and they said he was fine that when he was at his appt. in July his bottom two teeth were already loose. His other bottom tooth came out about 2 months ago. So he has two permanent teeth before he turns five. One thing the dentist asked me was when did he get his first tooth. I told him he had two teeth showing at 4 months. He said when kids got teeth early then they tend to loose their teeth early.

  • DD lost her first at 5.5.  She is now almost 6.5 and has lost 4.   I was told in November that her two front teeth would be lost soon...its almost been 2 months!  Sometimes it takes months from when you notice they are loose.

And DD was a late teether.  My BFF little girl who teethed before DD hasn't lost one yet and she turns 6 next month.

  • I lost all of my baby teeth between the ages of 5 and 6, so I suspect my DDs might lose their teeth early, too.

  • That's so interesting that so many of you are experiencing losing teeth so early.  I taught second grade for a long time and remember those kiddos losing their teeth left and right.  Five seems so early to start losing teeth....
