Last night MH asked me if I will need about a day to rest after I have the baby before I have my energy back. He's not insensitive, just totally clueless!
You might (and I hope you do) surprise yourself. I found myself cleaning my whole house two days later. My H was really surprised how active I was right away.
Between physical recovery, feeding every 2-3 hours, and all the tests they do in the hospital, you won't be getting more than 3 hours of sleep at a time for about 4 days.
Energy? I think that took about 2 weeks to recover.

Yes I explained that with all the feeding I might be really exhausted for weeks. I think part of his naivete is due to the fact that I've felt pretty good throughout my pregnancy (a little, tired nauseous, and moody, but otherwise not bad).
I asked my husband if he was nervous about taking care of the baby because he had no experience with babies. He said "no, I'm worried about getting you to the hospital on time, you can take care of all the baby stuff." Oh man is he in for a surprise! He has no idea what to expect. He can't picture what his role will be as "dad". He thinks that because I'm going to BF that I've got everything covered. Good thing he is a wonderful humble man, because he is in for a shock! lol
Haha. They are so clueless sometimes. A few weeks back DH and I were talking about how many kids we want to have (2-3) and I had suggested that he might want to get a vasectomy after our third child. I explained why I thought this was the best option, and he was pretty on-board, but as we were talking he said something about going under anesthesia. I kind of smiled and said, honey, they don't put you under general anesthesia for a vasectomy - its a tiny cut. His eyes just about bulged out of his head. Of course, he didn't bat an eye when I said I was planning to try to give birth without drugs. That he's on board for, but thinking about getting a little paper cut on his testicles makes him white in the face!!
