Yet another sick child

dschild ds has had a fever since Monday but no other symptoms other than being kinda sluggish. Not his happy playful self. Well today his fever stayed 103 despite Tylenol and Advil. Plus he started a croupy cough. I took him to urgent care since my pedi didn't have any openings. Turns out I was under dosing him with the fever meds. His lungs and ears were clear but NP started him on augmentin anyways since the fever has been all week and now he's not eating good. It's so sad to see him so droopy looking. One question though if you live in a cold climate do you still strip your child down to his diaper? We have the heater on but we have a drafty old farmhouses. What do you guys do? It's not snowing cold but enough for frost. Sorry this is jumbled I'm on my iPad

Re: Yet another sick child

  • Nothing worse than a sick child .  So sorry!

I guess if you have a warm enough spot, I'd strip him down and do a sponge bath. I hope he's feeling better soon.

When DD had a fever at 13 months, I took her into the pedi as well, and it turned out I was underdosing her, too.  It amazed me that both kids would take the same amount of medicine!  In WI, we put undershirts/onesies on both kids, and I will put pants on while leaving the shirt on, then take the shirt off.  Are you using the vaporizer?  This can make his bedroom a little warmer as well. Also, I posted about a month ago about a vaporizing bath, which worked wonders for DD's cold.  The best deal I found was the Up & Up brand worked well (and worked well on my cold, too!). Good luck, and I hope the abtibiotics kick in!

Thanks I forgot about the vaporizing bath. I'll send dh to Target on his way home from work.
