If I don't go into labor on my own by Monday, I am back to the doctor for another NST and we will have to make a decision then about when to do an induction. My OB's typical protocol for induction is Cervadil the night before, and then you return to the hospital the following morning and your water is broken and hopefully nature takes over from there.
Does anyone have any experience with this particular protocol? I am so wanting a natural birth and didn't expect to be at this point overdue with no progress in four weeks, no contrax, no BH, nothing going on.
Re: Those with experience with Cervadil, a question.
My doctor and I discussed inductions today for late next week. She said they'd have me come in the night before for Cervadil and then start Pitocen and break the water the next morning. (but you stay in the hospital the whole night). Then when she checked me I was 1-2 cm dilated and she said to just come in at 7am that morning to do the pit and water breaking (if needed) because the Cervadil would only be used if you hadn't started to dilate on your own first.
As much as I'm hoping to avoid being induced because I really disliked pitocen last time, I'm glad not to need an additional medication. Hopefully if you can begin to dilate even a little by then you won't need the Cervadil, too.
