which class to pick?

My kids (twins) will enter preschool next fall.  They just make the 3 year old cut off of Sept. 1st, they will turn 3 Aug. 16.  I want to put them in the 3 year old program, I know they'll do fine in it, they are pretty advanced.  However, this is the first time they'll be left alone in a class.  All classes they do until 3 around here are with me.  I can do a 9-11 class, 9-11:30 or 9-12.  I'm leaning towards 9-11 but selfishly I'd like the extra half our for errands those two days a week.  All paperwork for these private schools are due tomorrow so I need to decide today.

Re: which class to pick?

  • I'd say put them in as long as possible. If they're social boys they will like it and you will definitely appreciate the time to yourself.

DD was able to start in September as long as she was 2.5 and potty trained. She didn't turn 3 until December 18 and she was fine. She goes 3 days from 9-11:45.

    Good luck!

  • I agree.  If they struggle, the teachers will suggest they back down to a shorter day.  But 2 hours isn't much time at all.

  • definitely 9-12.  Any shorter is too short imo-- 3 hours goes by really quickly.

  • I agree longer either 2.5 3 which ever program you like best.

  • Thanks.  This was the push I need.  It just seemed too long.  If I discuss with my mom or older generation they all think anything more than 2 hours is not right at 3 years old and I was feeling guilty.  I told them things are different now!

  • Our 3yr old classes at our school are 2 1/2hrs if that helps which is what I plan for my younger dd.

My 4yr old goes 3 hrs right now & trust me the time flys by.
