Horrible pregnant comment

Yesterday while at lunch with co-workers, a random lady came up to me and asked how far along i was.  I told her 20 weeks and my co-worker mentioned that it was twins. She looked horrified and said I look tiny for twins at 20 weeks and asked if i was sure they were both still growing!!!  Horrifying to say to a pregnant woman!!!!

I felt like $#@& the whole day since everyone tells me i look small for twins, but thankfully I had an OB appt that evening.  He reassured me the twins are perfect and are actually bigger than most twins at 20wks, but the fact that im 5"10 means i carry it well.

I wouldn't have been able to resist responding with something mean. What a horrible thing to say!!

people always said that to me too and I never really got it? Like they were some sort of expert on how big a person should be? How would they know? Its just a dumb thing to say.

Oh my God!!  That's awful.

Kimmarino is tall also, and I remember her belly wasn't as big as some of the other women on here because she had a lot of space in her torso.  Everyone carries differently.  I'm 5'5, but I have a very short torso, so my belly was definitely big!

it really gets to me though, even my mom and aunts say i look like i only have one. grrrr...

 but man are they huge in the ultrasound...cant even see both on the screen together!

my husband's family will make comments too about how "small" i look and my MIL likes to ask how much weight ive gained...i just stopped responding to that too.

I remember someone telling me I didn't look pregnant when I was around 16 weeks with my twins; on the flip side when I went home for my grandmother's funeral when I was pregnant with my youngest I was asked if I was having twins again. I was 24 weeks. I was bigger than my 2 cousins. One of them was due 6 weeks before me and my other cousin was due about 2 months before me. People will make comments regardless.  That's what they do.

I've had that comment also. I think the taller you are and if you have a long torso you would tend to carry "thinner" than say someone who is 5'2". My  babies are on the small side which makes me feel even worse! I've gained 30 lbs also! Normally 5'6" 140 just hit 170!!

Glad I'm not the only one who gets told this! I'm 5'11 and get this comment all the time! It soooo annoying!

I'm 5'10" and used to get this comment from my mom, too... She would even cutesy- accuse (if there is such a thing) me of "starving her grandbabies"

I get that a lot as well. It gets really frustrating when people imply I'm not eating enough for them.

Wow, that's one of the worst comments I've heard! I'm sorry. Glad the babies are doing so well though. And it makes perfect sense that your bump wouldn't seem to "stick out" as much since you're tall.

people are CLUELESS!  Sorry they ruined your day   I had those comments at the beginning of my pregnancy & toward the end I heard nothing but how big I was.

That is pretty crappy.  You'll get there...dont' worry.  People will be asking when you were due.   Some people just don't think.  She probably thought it was a compliment.

I'm 11 weeks with twins, and I've gotten this, too. It definitely adds to the list of stuff to freak out about, even though my babies were fine last week at our u/s.

people used to say that to me allllll the time "wow you really don't look that big for having twins." Um, thanks?!

I'm 5'9, so I got a lot of similar comments. People are just complete idiots and say really stupid, hurtful things. 

I always was amazed by how many people responded to "I am x weeks along with twins" with "are you sure you have twins?" Nope. The gazillion ultrasounds that keep showing two babies must be wrong because a random lady at the grocery store doesn't think I am big enough. Gah.

This is your words on the LGBT page: 

ts not hate, but its true.  same sex relationships have a much higher rate of separation than divorced straight couples do.  why does it matter what the kid calls you...either way you are setting them up for a lifetime of ridicule by having them announce they have 2 moms. its not hate, its just my opinion that unless you cant procreate together, you shouldnt bring children into this world.  there are enough kids needing adoption so why cant you help one of them out inside of adding to the problem.  only one mom can be on the birth certificate so what are you going to do when the relationship ends?  leave another kid with one parent, just like straight couples.

I'm in a straight relationship and my husband and I did not procreate together. I used Donor eggs because of my failed fertility from chemo treatments at 23. Does that mean I also should not be allowed to have children? Because my fertility was stolen from me by a doctor who misdiagnosed me and caused me to have to go through high levels of chemo that fried my ovaries. Good parents are good parents regardless of same sex marriage or being a male and female. My husband is also a functioning alcoholic so if he doesn't get his sh*t together I may be a single mom, I'm assuming you would also think I don't deserve children...
