Am I creating an inconvenience for shower guests by using myregistry.com?

Ladies - Is anyone using myregistry.com without syncing to in-store registries?  I thought this would be an easier option since I can include as many different sources as need be, plus it can help find lowest prices on some items.  Now I am second guessing this since it seems like a newer option for registries and people might not be as comfortable with it.  Anyone have thoughts? Also, how are you wording it on your invite if you are only using myregistry.com?

 Thanks.

  • I would do an in store registry too, unless you want to get a bunch of stuff that isn't on your registry and/or duplicates. I am doing myregistry.com, but I also registered at BRU and Target. I used my registry mostly for things that couldn't be found at local stores.

  • I started with myregistry. Now i'm not so sure that is the best idea. I know a lot of ppl just want to go and pick the stuff out in person. I feel stuck. I feel like I don't even really have a shower being planned for me so what's the point anyway. I have nothing done in the nursery......so frustrated.

  • I think it depends, but I agree that it would be good to at least have one in-store option too.  A lot of people (read:  my parents and their friends) are not internet shoppers, so for them, they'd just be buying you something off registry.  That's fine, but I think it is good to allow people to go to a store and buy something.

  • I'm using myregistry and not registering in any stores. Had I known that you couldn't really sync a babies r us registry to the myregistry account I would have done a separate BRU one, but oh well. I figure some people will still go to the stores to buy the items and I might get some duplicates because of it, but I'll just return stuff if that happens. We'll see!

  • I don't know what my registry is, but I know I usually shop the day before the shower, so if there is nothing that I can get at a store I'm just going to be picking out an outfit and a gift card or something. I know I never have the time to wait for shipping so I don't shop online for showers or weddings.

  • My only concern is some people don't like to use the internet. So you may have stuff on there, but some people may not even look at it and just go in a store and buy you whatever.

I would do an in store registry too just to cover all your bases.

  • Here's my personal experience with myregistry:

I originally used it because I liked the idea of being able to sync everything from our Amazon and BRU registries in one location, plus I thought it was helpful for friends and family to be able to use the price comparison feature.  Then I found out BRU isn't a direct link.  And then after I registered for all of my stuff through Amazon and linked it to myregistry (so that I would still be eligible to use the 10% completion discount through Amazon) I learned that myregistry does not allow the price search function if you link to a direct registry item, only if it's to a general link to an item you saw online.  Which basically negated any reason for doing it in the first place.  Couple that with the fact that they were having severe syncing issues that did not show items as purchased that had been, I determined it to be a waste and wound up going back to just having separate registries through Amazon and BRU.
