So remember a couple weeks ago the AW post that Audrey was finally STTN?
This past weekend she had a stomach bug and had the runs from Friday morning through Monday morning. Since Monday night, she's been up at 4:30am with a poopy diaper. She hasn't pooped at night since she was an infant.
How on earth do we change this?!?!?!?! I don't think it's even possible to expect a tot to sleep through that, or to go back to sleep with a poopy diaper. Nothing in her schedule has changed - we eat the same foods and at the same time, she goes to bed at the same time. But since this little illness, her poop schedule seems to have changed.
UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: middle of the night pooping
I am in the same boat. I've been wanting to sleep train DD#2 for weeks but there was Thanksgiving (when we were all sleeping in the same room), then Christmas, now she's had a severe diaper rash for 2 weeks and we are on our second treatment for that, then she got the stomach bug with vomiting and diarrhea, and now she has a cold with a runny nose. It seems like every little thing can mess up their sleep schedule (or you ability to sleep train).
I have no idea what the answer is to your question though. My DD#2 probably has a poopie diaper 1 out of 3 mornings a week. So, that's pretty normal for us. I hope things get back to normal soon. Waking up in the middle of the night sucks!
well, that stinks!!
just wait it out and hopefully she'll soon get back on schedule
ETA: I would lather up those girls' tushies in lots of Aquaphor before bedtime!
night pooping SUCKS!!!
and what's worse is that DH and i can't take turns. he is in between glasses right now and only has contacts. he can't see anything well enough to actually change the diaper. and of course, after all that, i can't get back to sleep.
here's to hoping all our babies get it together soon!
vtkendra - we also had a wicked diaper rash with the stomach bug. i used a balm called Kumba, which i got at MOMS. amazing stuff!!! the redness started clearing up right away and after a couple of days, it was all gone. i've had the Kumba for a year or so, never thought to use it for diaper rash.
we usually use a powder we make from flour (cook it in a cast iron skillet until it turns brown, sift to remove lumps) and that works wonders, but it didn't help much with this and her skin was so tender from the rash, i thought a thick layer of this balm would be soothing.
2vthokies - we are also cutting two teeth, so i'm sure that doesn't help. strangely, she started STTN right when she started teething again. hmmmm....
