Ok, I have a couple of questions for you lovely ladies -
Backstory - we are expecting a baby through adoption in late July/early August. The baby will be born in KS and we have to stay there until we get ICPC so that could be several days up to 2 weeks-ish.
Questions:
For some reason I am really attracted to the 3 wheeled strollers (and feel that we need the bigger wheels for where we live)- City Elite, the new Mini GT when it comes out, Bumbleride Indie
I really thought I wanted a bassinet option so I had been looking at the UBV, but again I really like the 3 wheel/bigger wheel style. So that said I feel like I am leaning towards the Bumbleride.
Anyone have opinions positive or negative strongly about any of the strollers above?
Also, we don't have a BuyBuyBaby where I live - but I have heard on the board that you can order at BedBathandBeyond and use coupons on strollers if you get lucky and get a lazy salesperson they will let you use a 20% off.
Or does anyone else have any ideas if Bumblerides ever go on sale or where you can use a coupon on them?
I don't mind spending a little more on a stroller - but I always feel the need to get a bargain ![]()
Re: Stroller help needed!
I'm so excited for you
I have the Bumbleride Indie and I love it. Obviously haven't used it yet, but we put it together after the shower and played with it to figure out all the features. I like that it comes standard with the infant adapter, and the seat reclines all the way down if you want baby to lay in it (probably after a couple months or so). It's a smooth ride, and it just looks pretty
We got ours off amazon, and you can set up a price watch on www.camelcamelcamel.com to see when the price goes down. We got the Ruby color, and I think it was $469 when my mom purchased it.
I have ordered several things at my local Bed Bath and Beyond store from the BuyBuyBaby website and used a 20% off coupon. I've never had any issues with it, you just have to pay shipping.
After 2+ years and multiple treatment cycles,
including an IVF vacation in Costa Rica/Panama,
IVF #2 brought us our miracle baby!
Surprise! Baby Boy is on the way!
I have a bumbleride Indie single and I ADORE it! It's fabulous, and I used to nanny so I have tried a lot of strollers, BOB, UBV, etc. We just purchased the Bumbleride Indie twin because we are expecting baby #2 in June.
It's super easy to open/close, manuever, cleans up easily. We've used it on the beach, in the snow, on city streets....everywhere and haven't had one issue in the 13months we've used it!
my single was purchased from https://www.fawnandforest.com/ at a 15% off sale they had. Our recently purchased twin we bought brand new on EBay for $590!! original price is $720 for the color we choose...it still came with the standard one year warrenty. I highly reccomend Bumbleride. Good luck with everything!
Congratulations on your adoption!
I've never seen a sale include a Bumbleride, but City Minis and City Elites are often on sale online. If you choose between them, I like the air filled tires versus the "no flat" tires on some of the 3 wheel strollers. The air filled ones do have to be inflated sometimes, but the ride is so much smoother. We use a Joovy Zoom 360 for jogging (which is pretty similar to the Bumbleride), and it glides so well.
The negative aspect of 3 wheel strollers is that with most, your child is always slightly reclined with their legs sort of resting in front of them. My child prefers to sit upright (legs at 90 degree angle), lean forward, and hold on to a tray or bar. She started doing this at about 10 months. The cheapo Graco or umbrella strollers worked better for us than our more expensive stroller simply because of this.
Personally, I would not worry about a bassinet option. I used to be a nanny and have been around lots and lots of kids. I've never seen one that liked riding in a bassinet. The fact that it is flat and that babies kind of roll from side to side makes it uncomfortable, they usually would rather be snuggled close in a wrap or infant carrier. Most moms that I know that had one on their stroller ended up only using it in the house (like a moses basket). Just my two cents if you are worried about not having a bassinet.
I love my Bumbleride Indie for all of reasons listed above. I too was considering the UBV but the Bumbleride won out because the ride was so smooth. We ended up purchasing a Bumbleride carrycot on Craigslist so that we could also have the bassinet option but it really isn't necessary since you can pop the carseat right onto the adapter bar and the baby is facing you.
Congrats!!!
Thank you girls soooooo much! We have been trying so hard for this baby that my hubby is indulging my stroller obsession and told me to get what I want! I think it sounds like the Indie is a perfect fit. And I think you are all right - the bassinet would likely be a waste.
Now unjust have to pick a color!

Can't help so much on the stollers (we have a BOB and CitySelect.. love them both) but I just wanted to offer adoptive mama advice. Don't take your good stroller w/you... you won't use it/need it much during ICPC. I felt like it was one more thing that needed to be carted around. Buy a cheapy snap and go off CL to hook your carseat to since you'll need the carseat... OR just have your carseat shipped to you once you arrive in the other state. In the airports I much preferred wearing my babies (I love the Baby K'Tan for newborns) than pushing them in a stroller.
Just my thoughts
Congrats....
