So I read somewhere that taking Mucinex can help thin CM, therefore aiding in getting pregnant. I thought it was worth a try, so I got some (the kind with ONLY Guaifenesin, 600 mg, and NOTHING else in it) and took one a couple hours before BD on my fertile days. For now, I get to sit and wait, but I am SO hoping for a BFP!...anways, before I get off track, has anyone else heard of this or tried it? Is just one a couple hours before BD enough, or should I have taken them throughout the day?
Also...has anyone heard of using Robitussin to TTC? I briefly read over it, but haven't tried it...I don't really like that stuff. ![]()
Re: Anyone using Mucinex to TTC?
Good for you! Who knows which of those many things did the trick, but congrats! Can you enlighten me on the benefits of pomegranate caps as well as the green tea (the green tea has something to do with either thinning or helping to produce more CM, right?)?

I think most of the ladies drank the pomegranate juice...but I couldn't stomach that much juice all cycle. I take the caps (and still do), 500 mg, twice daily. It's supposed to thicken the lining of your uterus and allow for better implantation. Again, it's all Bump theories; my OB didn't tell me to take it.
Green tea, same deal, didn't want to drink it, so I took the caps. I am not taking them this time around...read somewhere about interference with the PNV, and even though with my DD I took them 12ish hours apart, I don't want to risk any interference. I believe green tea helps with CM, but there is some thought it might help with creating viable embryos too. Here's the link to another bumpie's blog that discuss what things you can do to "up your chances," as she says...and I followed most, but not all, when getting pg with my DD. https://www.thebump.com/profiles/ShellShockedMama/blog/MyBlog/Index
For this cycle, I'm taking 500 mcg of B12 twice daily, 200 mg of B6 twice daily, 500 mg of pomegranate twice daily, a PNV, 1000 mg of EPO twice daily, and after ovulation, I'll be on progesterone (that's the only thing that is an Rx).
Do you have an issue with scanty CM? If not, this will do nothing to help you get pregnant. If you have plenty of CM anyway, taking something to increase it will not do anything to help. I'm also not sure of the best way to take it. It's onset is in 30 minutes, and it lasts about 4-6 hours, but I'm not sure if you need to take a few doses to feel an effect. But anyway, I wouldn't bother if CM is not a problem for you.
P.S. Robitussion is guafenisen, which is Mucinex. Same thing.

On a side note, are you taking this with a doctor's blessing? Just please be careful with B6. 400mg a day is quite a lot, and 100mg per day was enough to make my liver go haywire. I stopped the B6, and liver went back to normal. My doctor wanted to kick my ass for taking this without his blessing.

Yes, same doctor who prescribed progesterone (oral) with my DD told me the dosage of B6. Obviously, not "prescribed," since it's an OTC vitamin, but she told me to try 200 mg twice daily. She did not tell me to change it for this attempt at conception. However, I have an appointment with an new OB, same practice, to re-discuss my wonky LPs on Monday. I'll be giving her my whole list of OTC drugs again, and she'll review.
(I think you were the one that told me about vaginal progesterone (but you had a different siggy pic then). With the "oops" oral dose, I had a 12 day LP; back to the correct oral dose, and had early spotting and only a barely 10 day LP last cycle. Hoping she'll opt to up the dose and switch to vaginal.)
