Hi ladies
I've had the Britax B-Ready (doubles mode) for 12m now and absolutely LOVE the stroller. I actually had the City Select and returned it b/c I thought it was too long and hard to steer. I've never had a problem with the B-Ready until last weekend. We were strolling through an outdoor shopping area and my 12m old was in the back (2.5 year old up front) and I heard my son sneeze and then scream bloody murder. I figured he bit his tongue or something when he sneezed, so I picked him up, checked his mouth, and he calmed down, so we started walking again. We got to a restaurant and I was putting him in the high chair and out of the corner of my eye, so his finger was bright red. It had a blister, so it was either pinched or burned, it was also very swollen. I immediately thought of the stroller - did he get his finger caught in the rear wheel?! My 2.5 year old EASILY touches the rear wheels, but she's old enough to understand that if she touches it, she'll get a "boo boo". So she doesn't touch it. I called Britax and they told me it was IMPOSSIBLE for him to touch the wheels (it does have a guard on the inside and top of the wheel), that they've tested it and have never had complaints. I took pictures of he and my daughter both properly strapped in (shoulder and waist harness) and I show them how she can easily touch it, and how he leans to the side and grabs the wheel.
I'm disappointed b/c I feel that they are dismissing me. They keep telling me I'm the only person who has complained (one other mom on the Britax FB page did complain), and they've tested it with differed sized children and it's impossible. They did tell me they are coming out with a new wheel - they sent me a pic and the design is 2 spokes, rather than the 5 or 6 it has. I explained that that doesn't matter - once one of the spokes comes around, it will crush the finger. Then the woman told me that it will be a new black color. Like my kid is touching the wheel b/c of the color?!!
Anyways, I think it's great with a toddler an an infant - we got a great 12 months out of it, but I can no longer put my son back there, and my 2.5 year old has recently started to protest being in the back.
Just wanted to let you all know!
Re: PSA - Britax B-Ready 2nd seat
Did you post this on the FB page, because someone posted this same story on there.
We have been using ours for almost a year, and thankfully we haven't had any issues with the kids touching the wheels.

She said that steering was difficult when using it as a double, which is a common complaint with that stroller. Of course you'll be able to easily steer yours one-handed when you're only pushing it with an infant and no second seat. It doesn't really matter though, that wasn't the point of her post at all.

I am 150% happy with my City Select. I have used it as a double (with my friends children). I steer it with one hand...granted like PP's mentioned with two hands it is easier especially if it is fully loaded and as a double, but never had a problem. I am still in a condo so many times I have it fully loaded with the baby, diaper bag, groceries and it is fine. I never liked how with the B-Ready the 2nd seat was as if the child was in the storage area but never thought of the fact that they were close to the wheels posing danger to his/her fingers being injured.
So "g8orell" weren't they being nice and offering you $$ for another stroller? What happened? Did they change their tune?

PS I also feel the City Select has better quality wheels and a smoother ride than the B-Ready and from other posts/comments I have read about this say the same.

Umm just b/c I do not have a second child of my own does not mean I have not used it as a doubble. I have 2 seats and have used it as a double already But TYVM for reading my mind. Do you even have this stroller at all?
I understand that. The City Select when loaded as a double both seats sit much higher off the wheel base preventing a kid from reaching the wheel. Also there is a small curved capped thingy (hard to explain) that prevents something from brushing/touching the top of the wheel. Potentially if you did have a long handed child and they were able to reach around to the side of the weel then the cap thingy would not be much protection b/c it is short. But there is just no way a child can reach it b/c loaded as a doubble the seat is so high.
