BOB Revolution CE vs. SE??

A BOB Revolution 2010 CE just came up on our local buy/sell website for a GREAT price, and while DH and I have been looking at the SE, I'm wondering if there's really that big a difference?

We're big hikers/walkers with a hyper dog that has us out for an hour or two daily. DH is also a jogger, so we'd want to use the BOB for that. Spend lots of time at beaches, etc.

Anyone have experience with the CE and could give me some advice? Is it fine with off roading or not so much?

 Thanks!!

Re: BOB Revolution CE vs. SE??

  • Are you planning to use it as your primary stroller?  I'm not as familiar with the the 2010 model, but we're going with the CE b/c it has the option to make the front wheel pivot, or you can lock it in place for running.  It makes it much easier for normal use/outings.  The wheels are still pretty sturdy and can definitely handle all of your activities, just a little smaller than the SE.  The SE has the big wheels on the back, with a locked front wheel, which makes it a little more efficient to push when running but harder to maneuver through stores, etc.

  • For what you say you'll use it for, get the SE.

The only difference is the wheels but you will appreciate the larger back wheels.

ETA: PP is incorrect that the SE front wheel does not pivot, it does. The fixed version is the Ironman.

  • We got the SE because we wanted the bigger back wheels.  This will be our only stroller for awhile so we wanted one that have an easy time with all types of terrain and the bigger wheels will make that easier.

The front wheel DOES have the option to lock or swivel.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's my understanding the only difference between the CE and SE is the tire size.

How much of a deal would you be getting?  That would probably influence my decision.  Also, we plan on using this stroller from day one (not running) with the carseat adapter.  I think they made changes on the 2011 model and that might have affected the carseat adapter.  If you want to use it immediately just make sure the 2010 model with fit with the carseat adapters being sold now.

  • I would wait for an SE.  The spokes on the CE are metal and someone told me not to get those because they rust.  The SE has plastic spokes.  If you are going to be doing a lot of outdoor activities with the stroller I would go with the SE.
  • The CE is made for the city and sidewalks (hence the C).  If you want to go off road at all or do a lot of jogging, you will want the wheels on the SE.

  • The front wheel swivels on both the CE and SE.  You have the option to lock it on both models as well.

If the main use of the stroller is outdoors for activities, jogging, lots of walking, trails, go with the SE.

If you just want the stroller for mall use, then go with the CE.
