For those of you with older preemies, when did they stop gaining weight quickly? My DD is 2 months 3 weeks old (3 weeks adjusted) and she went home on Nov. 26th at 5lb 10oz, and has gained 0.5 lbs every week since she has been home; today at our RSV shot appt. I found out she is up to 9lbs! While I am happy that she is growing and gaining weight well, I'm curious as to when her weight gain will slow down - at this rate she is going to be huge!

Born at 34w2d:
My 1st son (not a preemie) gained weight really quickly for quite a few months.
I apparently just have babies that grow fast because DS#2, born at almost 34 wks at 5lbs 14 ounces was almost 9lbs 14 ounces last week at 5 weeks!
BFP#2 3/16/11, beta 138; 4/12 Baby/HB DS born 9/10/11 at 29w4d due to partial abruption and PTL
BFP#3 8/19/13 Another boy! 17P, modified bedrest and Nifedipine helped us have a termie! DS2 born 4/19/14 at 38w5d.
I think it's unique to each baby, preemie especially. Mine was a 35 wk IUGR baby, who is SGA. He was 3 lbs 12 ozs, and now at 7 months (almost 6 mos adjusted) is breaking the scales at 13 lbs ha. So, he's still a tiny peanut. He's not even on the growth chart yet - he has his own curve that the Dr plots him on. The Drs all agree that, had he been full term, he was never going to be a big baby. DH and I were both around 6.5 lbs.
So, I think some preemies, especially ones that aren't IUGR, catch up more quickly. In general, I think the growth rate slows down a lot around 3 or 4 months. I think LO has gained about 1lb per month since 4 months (vs about 2 lbs per month up until that point).
I think it depends on the LO some. My son gained and grew really tall quickly until he was about 1yr to 1yr and half. I think he is going to just be tall though. He was big for a preemie too. It was a blessing though. Good luck!
I think they're supposed to gain about .5 pounds each week during the last trimester and for the first few months after birth so your LO sounds right on track. I think my LO slowed to .25 lbs around a month old (was a 36 weeker so this was around her due date.)
ETA- she's probably just following her natural growth curve and is a bigger baby. My LO takes after me and is barely on the charts, just like I was.
