VBAC

Another VBAC task accomplished.

I think I've found a new Doctor. She's pro-natural birth and does VBACs she delivers at the hospital with the second best VBAC rate in the state (10%) which happens to be 5 minutes from my house.

N asking around a play group Mom friend mentioned her med free birth and how non-intervention the Dr. Is. In talking to her her sister used her last year for a successful VBAC. :-)

She's in practice by herself with a dr. who covers in an emergency which could be a pro or a con. I'm still thinking on that.

Don't know enough about him to be sure but from what my friend says she rarely uses him so we'll see.

I'm going to see about scheduling my annual with her if I'm not pregnant by the time that roles around.

Re: Another VBAC task accomplished.

  • That is great. I think a solo practice is good for a VBAC mom since you don't have to worry about several other doctors and inter-practice politics. I would think you will receive more specialized care. I would schedule your annual so that you are already a patient when you get your BFP, even if you don't make it to the annual. You wouldn't want to find out they are not accepting new patients when that exciting day comes.

I decided to give my old OB one more shot at my last annual and because I winced a bit during my exam she said something like "yeah I just don't think you are a good candidate for VBAC". I was upset that I had spent more money in that practice and wished I had switched to my birth center before that appointment.

  • Really good point. I'll give the office a call I'd hate for her not to be taking patients and not get to use her.
