Bedsharing/Cosleeping with Two Under 2

Hey everyone!!  

We just found out we are 8 weeks pregnant with our 2nd Monday, I am due August 20th and we have a beautiful baby boy already who is almost 9 months.  They will be 14 months apart.  

The thing is, we all bedshare.  My husband and I love bedsharing with our little babe and for those who do as well and plan/or planned to with their youngest --- how has it/did it work?

* we will probably try the bassinet next to our bed for the first few weeks, but our son hated it and prefered sleeping with us even as a baby and I liked it better so I'm wondering if full-on bedsharing worked for anyone.

 

Also, I'm breastfeeding my 9 month old and plan to until he is 2 years old so long as he still wants to.  So I will be feeding the newborn and my son.  And my son currently still feeds throughout the night.

We've done it a few different ways and it's changed as the kids needs have changed.

When we first brought #2 home, we had the bed configured so that #1 was between myself/DH and #2 was between myself/the bed rail. That didnt last long since #2 didnt like bedsharing at first. For a while, she slept in the bassinet/#1 in the bed. We moved #1 out of our bed at 20 months and for a while he slept in his own room. During that time, #2 started liking bedsharing so we bedshared with her. Now #1 wants to sleep with us again so we're back to the original setup. LOL!

Try not to overthink this. You will find a way to manage with 2.

Side note: Buy Adventures in Tandem Nursing and read it now and again when baby comes. It has advice on different positions for nursing both at once, even while laying down as well as lots of other good info for both nursing while pregnant and nursing 2 at once. It even has a section on gentle weaning if you decide that's the right choice for your family.
