TTC after 35

waking up with night sweats - bcp or perimenopause

Okay, I've started my IVF treatment plan and I've taking bcp.  I managed to ride out the nausea but now I'm waking up every other night at 3am with mild to moderate sweating.

Because I'm 39, I can't decide if it's a s/e of the bcp or if it's perimenopause.

Any thoughts???

  • Has it been warm in Michigan like in Illinois?  Maybe neither.  Maybe you need to reconsider the weight of your comforter, since it's been warm?  Def something to think about.  I did not have night sweats on BCP though.

  • I'm sure you've had your E2 level tested so you would know if your estrogen was low.

    Good luck!

  • Gen, what are E2 levels?  I don't recall much of the info because the majority of my testing occurred in the fall of 2010.

Sorry, estrogen.  They've tested it at my baseline during all m IUI cycles and I know will do the same at the beginning of my IVF cycle.  I'm sure if your's was low they would of said something.  I don't have issues taking BCP but I know lot's of women do.  I hope the night sweats go away soon!

  • Gen: Thanks for the clarifier. I think I'm just sensitive to BCP.

HappyWife:  Guess what?  DH has been turning the electric blanket on high at night. So, after I turned down the heat, I haven't had any night sweats.  LOL

  • Probably a combination of a lot of things that the BCP are making worse. I am really scared to take them when I start IVF. I haven't taken BCP sine I was in my early 20s and they made me uber-crazy back then.
