Suddenly not eating- BLW, help

Hey ladies!  My munchkin has suddenly stopped eating after not feeling well for a few days.  In an attempt to keep him hydrated while he was sick we let him have fruit popsicles frequently.  Now all he wants is pops.  He is normally an awesome eater... He's still nursing, but I need help with how to handle him refusing solid foods.  We've taken a BLW approach so I'm trying really hard not to fall into the trap of begging/bribing him to eat.  Please help :). I'm really frustrated... And maybe I'm overreacting :)

Re: Suddenly not eating- BLW, help

  • This is so common at 1 year of age, I have seen that most children will eat when hungry so just offer healthy snacks and only offer about his fist size serving to him, if he picks at it and refuses just play it cool (easier said than done) let him go about his day and offer the next snack/meal at the regular times. He will eat again don't worry!

  • DD has been sick the past week or so, and has basically stopped eating solids. There isn't much you can do except to keep offering. When they feel better, the appetite will pick back up again.

  • my son always stops eating when he's sick. my ped. says as long as he's drinking regularly not to worry. still offer some small snacks.  some time my sons will perfer one or two  foods. in his recent hospitalizatiion he only at mashed potatoes and over cooked broccolli.   been home 3 days and now is eating everything he can get his hands  on. by the way he's 18 months and stopped (bfing) at 16 months.

  • If he's nursing then he's getting what he needs.  You can casually offer him solids without any pressure to eat them.
