Trying to Get Pregnant

Sanity Check

Hi Ladies-

How do all of you keep sane during this process? It consumes me.  After our chemical pregnancy in May my cycle has been semi-regular.  Charting hasn't seemed to help and now I am peeing on sticks 2-3 times a day.  I haven't talked to my OB since my bloodwork showed I leveled out back in May.  Do any of you make checking in appts with your OB?

BLAH.

Re: Sanity Check

  • Sometimes I look at the expiration date on my American Express, which is currently at 03/15.  I just think to myself, "Yeah, I'll probably be pregnant before they send me a replacement card."

  • Hello there. Welcome to the board. If you haven't checked out the Newbie Link, definitely do so - it is really helpful.

I'm really sorry for your loss :( This is a great place to be for support! What is your average cycle length? Are you peeing on OPKs 2-3 times a day? What do you mean by "leveled out"...sorry for all the questions, I'm just not following.

    Hang in there!

  • Sorry- I should have been more specific! I will check out the newbie link.  I actually haven't done much lurking but it just hit me last night while on the internet that thebump.com existed.  I was a frequent "knottie" a few years ago when planning our wedding.

My average cycle length is so crazy I may go 3 months at 28-30 days and then last month was 44 days.  I haven't been on BC since I did I the Depo shot 9 years ago for 1 year period of time and I genuinely feel that threw me off completely.

I am POAS 2-3 times a day with the First response OPK's.

By level out I mean I had to go back 2 weeks after my bloodwork not doubling to ensure that my levels went back to 0 aka not pregnant and no "tissue" left. It was horrible.  The stupid girl who worked here was like "umm why are you here" and as I studdered my answer she read the file and was like "oh right a miscarriage" shes like I didnt dropkick her!

I may call the OB tomorrow just to vent to a dr! He is old and delivered me, he must have some words of wisdom!

No worries! If what you are saying is you are charting your cycles and not getting a positive OPK...ever...maybe you will want to mention it to your OB. Are you temping? Temping will be able to confirm ovulation...if you aren't temping, why don't you try that for a cycle or two and then talk to your OB about it.

I'll be thinking about you! <3 Hang in there!

  • Thanks! I need to just take a deep breath.  I am going to start temping next cycle for sure.  I did it with #1 but didn't have much luck since I was never good about the same time.  I thought the sticks may be the easier way out- but seems as though the hand in hand method of doing both may work best for my sanity.

  • Hi and welcome :)

to stay sane I 1) read because it helps get my mind off everything. I make sure to stay away from anything baby related in books

    2) I talk to my husband and now both my parents because we finally decided to start telling certain people.

    3) I make a list of everything that has changed in the last year and all of the other ways that I'm blessed. It really helps to put everything in perspective.

If you ever happen to see that girl again, I would drop kick her but I'm a bit crazy lol.

  • Hi.  Everyone else has already given you good advice.

I wanted to add that you might want to order Wondfos on Amazon instead of First Response OPKs if you're using 2-3/day, they're cheap and work.
