Cloth Diapering

CD for newborns

I have read that the one sizes are sometimes too large for newborns. Have you ladies found this to be the case? Is it a good idea to get some new born sizes if I plan to use the one size? I am debating between FuzziBunz and Bum Genius. I was leaning towards Fuzzibunz but a friend said the elastic wore out in the legs on those.

Re: CD for newborns

  • I'm planning to roll half FB perfect size xs and half BG 3.0 xs for my newborn in May. Just scored all of my BG's for a great price on DiaperSwappers.com. You can also check out ebay and the swap board here for good prices. Since I don't know how long my baby will be in newborn dipes, I didn't want to buy a lot, pay full price or put them on my registry since the OS ones would last longer.

  • I plan on trying a BG 4 with aplix on my LO tomorrow because it looks like it might work.  Thirsties Duo size 1 pocket worked fairly early....probably around 7 or 8 pounds.

  • This is addressed in the FAQ- here is the link with several responses from CD moms: https://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/48380398.aspx

  • I have both the FB and the BG in my stash, and I LOVE how the FB don't require changing snaps, though if my two are different sizes it may be more tricky.  I don't know which one I like better, after selling a few of the FB, I will have about 20 of each in my stash, as well as some Kawaii diapers too.  I bought everything used, which saves a ton!

For my NB stage, I just got some KLO and will get some additional prefolds and covers.  I'll sell the KLOs after, and use the prefolds later for stuffing or burp cloths or whatever.

    Good luck!

  • We love our fuzzibunz.  We've been using them solid for more than a year now and we haven't replaced any elastic.
  • I used Lil Joeys and BG xs for the first month. Then, BG smalls for 3 weeks and got rid of them because she fit into OS perfectly at 4 weeks.  She was 8 lbs., 12 oz. at birth and over 10 lbs at 4 weeks, so take that into consideration. The Lil Joeys lasted about a week in this house!
