Baby moving during ultrasound? Concerned

I just had my 12 week ultra sound today and got to see my sweet pea! However, the baby wouldn't move at all! The ultra sound tech poked me in the tummy with the scanner a few times and the baby turned a little, but then looked like it was back asleep. Is this normal? Did you see your baby swimming all around? My doc said it wasn't a big deal, and the baby had a good heartbeat of 156, but still makes me concerned.

Mine turned a little and moves his hands some, but he wasn't swimming around.

I couldn't see the screen during much of mine (ugh) but my H did, and he said the baby was moving at first when they put the transducer on my stomach, but then it kind of settled back down again.  When I saw it after the measurements were taken, it was on its back - the tech snapped a pic then, and then snapped another, but not before the LO turned its back on us -- kind of as if to say, "Hey! I was napping, leave me alone!" :)

    I don't think it's much to worry about :)

Thank you! That makes me feel a bit better :)

Mine moved a little in the beginning, then settled into one spot and the tech really struggled to get LO into the correct position so she could get the correct measurements.  Any chance you were hungry?  I realized after the fact and after reading a post on here that I hadn't eaten in over 4 hours and that could have been a factor.  I wouldn't worry about it at all.

All of my NT scan pictures show my LO turning over and tighter, away from us. The 3D one has the little arms draped over the face in a very defiant "Stop waking me UP" picture. Finally he or she woke up long enough for measurements, but didn't kick around very much. As long as the heartbeat is fine, I wouldn't worry - they have sleep/wake cycles of 10 minutes, so you probably caught the LO during the sleep cycle.

Yeah, I was hungry actually! And thirsty. It was a morning apt, so I quickly got ready, ate some almonds, drank a little and took off! Interesting. I just found that some people drink OJ to get their little one to move? Maybe I'll try that next time- see if that works. Even though I am sure the baby is fine, it's still scary seeing such a still little body on that screen. Another miscarriage is my worst fear! As I am sure so many women can relate to. :(

Mine was the perfect position for the NT measurement so the tech didn't have to stimulate it to move.  After she got her measurements and unfroze the screens, we saw arm position changes but nothing dramatic.  Remember, babies have sleep/wake cycles in the uterus too!  I had tried to chug 7-up to fill my bladder so had quite the sugar load in me and it showed by the fast HR of 170s!  Fastest I've ever seen it.

My baby was asleep during my ultrasound. They tapped my tummy but baby didn't wake up right away, just long enough for them to get what they needed then he went back to sleep. Don't worry if there was an issue they would have told you something already. All babies are different so really what anyone tells you here is unique to their baby...

Mine didn't move either. Not even when the doctor nudged a few times with the ultrasound wand. Lazy baby Smile But HB was 158. Wish the doc had let us listen for more than 2 seconds!

Being hungry makes the baby lethargic. I posted yesterday about my ultrasound where the doctor told my husband to go get me a snack from the vending machine to get the baby moving because it wasn't turning over.

    It's nothing to worry about.

Did your baby move after you had a snack? That is so funny!

Right before my scan today I drank a ton of water to fill up the bladder and had a snack about 30 minutes before the scan because I was running all sorts of errands today.  Baby moved a bit and turned over a few times, even waived! Overall was sleepier than my previous scan. Heartbeat was 159 bpm. I think the full bladder really helped the tech though.

Ours didn't move much during the NT scan. The tech kept jabbing my belly and pressing to make it move. Baby stood on it's head 2 times and waived a time or 2, but pretty much kept right on sleeping. Our tech laughed because it was so uncooperative.

That's how my Baby A was at our 11week u/s, and again at our 14 week. There's always a good heart beat, and some movement (usually stretching out like it's just woke up), but mostly just chilling out.

I'm glad you posted this because mine didnt move at the NT scan yesterday either! He was in the perfect position for measurements so they didnt try to get him to move, but still. HB was 171, so they said everything was fine.
