Hey there! I just found out last weekend that we are expecting LO #2!!! We have a guest bedroom and a nursery. Our DD will be 15 months when the baby arrives, do you think they can share the nursery or should we convert the guest room? We can always buy a blow up mattress or something like that for our visitors.
Also, the nursery isn't huge so it would be a tight squeeze to get two cribs in there!
Re: Two nurseries? Can they share one?
Our family blog
We kept our office and our children share a room. There was a bit of trial and error though.
Before #2 was born we set up her crib in #1's room. When #2 was born we had a pack n play set up in our master bedroom, but we mostly bedshared. She STTN pretty much from the beginning, so at 3.5 months we moved her to their shared room. She started waking at night and so did my son. Things started spiraling out of control and no one was getting enough sleep. When she was 6 months old we moved the crib from their room to our room. Soon after we sleep trained her and when she was consistently STTN we moved her back to their shared room.
When DD was only 3.5 months old I wasn't willing to sleep train with any amount of CIO, so room sharing didn't work for us then. Now that she's 8+ months old things are going well, because if either child wakes we do not rush to them. They are getting use to each other.
A little tip: we created a room divider with a wardrobe on wheels with a blanket draped over it. I think it helps that they cannot see each other if they wake in the middle of the night.
