Do you think it's inappropriate? Also, would you support your daughter if she wanted to submit it like her mom did?
I would not. I would lose it if my daughter wanted a pic like that.

Re: Did anyone see the Inappropriate Senior Pic on the Today Show?
I saw it another website.
Hell NO, its not appropriate.
Oh Hell NO, I wouldn't support my child with that picture in a HS YEARBOOK. Ridiculous.
Whatthemotherfuck is wrong with people?? Absolutely not! I did not see the segment, but hell no, I wouldn't support my child in that situation.
But also, did you read the part where the yearbook staff agreed as a compromise to put it in the back of the book if she paid $300? How is that any better?
I at the time of only having 5yr olds would not even want a picture like that taken of my 18yr old. I agree is it "pin up" worthy and not something I want portrayed of my daughter. There are plenty of poses to show she has an interest in modeling than the sexual pin up type pose she has going on. I also think that any picture used in the SCHOOL year book should be following the SCHOOL dress code. If she cant wear the short yellow skirt and black shaw showing that much skin to class, then it should not be published. Same with the tight black dress she was wearing in the 2nd picture. What do these people expect? Its a yearbook...NOT a playboy. Also, they compared it to other kids showing their interest in their sr. pics. Um....HUGE difference in sports uniforms etc and a skimpy outfit and suggestive pose. Are they really that dumb that they cant see that?
Im starting to think its a way to get attention and for her to get herself out there and be seen.

This is an ad that any student can buy space for that amount of money for a different pic. It's not just for her.
Kelly Monaghan's 5K - 5/15/11 - 3rd Place in AG
Walk the Talk 5K - 5/18/11 - 31:12 PR
Ridley Run 3.1 - 4/14/12 - 1st race of the year, 32:45
I just don't understand why there would be a different standard for a senior picture and a paid ad. Either it's ok to put in the yearbook or it's not.
In the back of my high school yearbook there was a section for paid ads, and parents/students also purchased space for pictures. They were pretty much all baby/kid pictures of that year's seniors. No way would they have put in such a racy picture. I realize that was almost 20 years ago, but still...
Also, I get that she's 18 and can make her own decisions, but there's a difference between taking pictures for your own purposes and publishing them in a school yearbook.
Right, she's 18, but the majority of yearbook purchasers are not. I can imagine there'd be a number of agitated parents if this became acceptable yearbook photo attire.
Yeah, I'd not let my daughter out of the house looking like that, much less have someone take a picture of it!
Mom and daughter need a reality check IMO.
Ah, she's a Courtney Stodden in the making. Makes sense.
Not appropriate. I don't have a daughter, but if I did, I wouldn't allow it... and those kind of battles is where I feel relief to have 3 of a kind
But I keep wondering-- why is this news? I have seen it for the last few days. So annoying. This seems like just the kind of exposure she was hoping for...
I worked on the YB staff for 2 years in hs. I was also 18 as a sr. and didnt think that just because I was an adult I could do things my way and not follow the schools rules. Any and all pictures printed in our yb had to be following dress code. Well, I think there were a few of the sr. picnic with kids in their swimsuits but other than that it was pretty harmless. No one was posing in a racy pose or suggestive facial expressions.
Also, the extra ads were set aside for Sr. pages that parents could buy and do for their child. You could do a full page, half or 1/4 of a page. Most did 1/2 or full and were full of pictures of them as babies, growing up, with family & friends and a few from their sr. year.

My opinion exactly. She wanted it and now the whole country thinks she's a ho. LOL

Not appropriate, at all. I saw the entire gallery, and they were all way over sexualized for a teenager. I blame the photographer for that, but also the parent for allowing their daughter to dress like that. That said, it is no secret this girl is an aspiring model, and well, now she's been given all the attention she was looking for. What could be better than apperaing on the Today Show?
As a senior photographer myself, I can attest to the fact that teenage girls now dress and look much older than their ages. It is really hard at times to photograph girls that age and not have the poses look too sexy because when they're wearing tiny outfits, it makes it way worse. But it is something I'm constantly aware of. There are a lot of shots that never make it in the gallery because a little too much cleavage is showing or the way they are posed seems a tiny bit too mature.
Man my school was WAY stricter than most I guess. Our senior pics had to be with a basic portrait background, grey or blue or whatever, and we had to be wearing regular clothes...no skin showing. And pretty much a portrait pose....arms/shoulders up, no full body, mostly just our face in the picture and that's it. And this was a public school.
The girl is an idiot. And her mom is too. I'm not saying that my DDs won't EVER take pictures like that (I just pray they keep clothes on), HOWEVER, it will not be what they are remembered by in highschool.
Yes. Headshots only for the senior picture, and if you had honors you could choose another full body shot (but you had to be fully clothed. If you couldn't wear it to school, you couldn't have it in the year book).
That was my thought exactly.

Yeah, ours were with a cap and gown.
Ours were is cap and gown too. Your interest in other activities were shown when you were in the sports team/drama/music club pics. As for her interest in modelling, it is not a school activity so has no place in the yearbook.
And I totally agree that she just did this for the publicity.
Not appropriate for a High School yearbook.
That needs to go in her portfolio or something else that's not the yearbook!
I have never heard of senior pics like you are describing. Someone on the toddler board was saying that their high school also did pictures like that. I grew up close to Omaha, and we were allowed to submit any picture for our senior section of the yearbook. It could be a head shot, full body shot, professional or not professional. I don't think anyone abused it. My cousins all went to high school in Seattle, and while I don't think they could submit full body shots, they definitely didn't have pics like you are describing either.
I don't agree with her picture at all, and I think they are crazy, but I am glad that my school didn't make everyone look the same either.
