Baby Names

Lorenzo vs. Enzo

I get mixed reactions to our current name choice Enzo (which I posted about on here last week).  What would you prefer?[Poll]

Both are fine, but I prefer Enzo as a NN for Lorenzo.

Agreed. Except I think both are great. Lorenzo nn Enzo is just my preference.

Both are cute names, but I am only feeling them if you have Italian heritage and an Italian last name.

I've always thought Enzo would be an awesome dog's name. In fact, I think it is the dog's name in the book "The Art of Racing in the Rain".  I also immediately think of The Godfather. "I am Enzo, the baker."

I am italian (last name is DeLorenzo). But also, Enzo is also German, and my husband is German...

*SS ? Lorenzo and Enzo are both awesome names; and both work great as full first names.

You just need to find what works for you.

    Agree with MJ.

Wait, you want to name your child Lorenzo DeLorenzo?

Eta: Sorry I re-read your OP and saw your LN. So am I assuming that was your maiden name/you kept your name/not married.

If so I actually love it, Lorenzo honoring your name.

  • I voted Lorenzo because I am really hoping that your H will come around and embrace the full name. :)

If not then stick with Enzo as a compromise, it is such a great tribute to your family.

haha - IMAGINE?!  I'm not THAT cruel!!!  Yes, DeLorenzo is my maiden name (though I never changed my last name, so it's still my last name).  Whitehead is what my kid's last name will be.

  • I love Lorenzo NN Enzo!  It is one of our top contenders.  I always prefer having the option of a longer name; however, I think Enzo on its own can be fine too.

  • Given the meaning behind the last name, I would go with Lorenzo nn Enzo. I would have done this with my maiden name (made it our kid's middle name) if it was a name that could stand on its own.

This is exactly what I wanted to do - my husband isn't a fan of Lorenzo though, so I am trying to compromise (since I truly HATE his other choices) so I thought Enzo could work.  Looks like this is probably the route I'll go since no one seems to think it's horrible!
