When I was pregnant with DD, we discussed Max if she was a boy. Dh's grandfather was named Mitchell, called Max.

I like Max as a nickname, but would like something more substantial. I hate Maxamillion & Mitchell. My maiden name is Mannix. My father passed away and DH and I really don't LOVE his fn or mn, but would like to have some connection to him...what do you think of Mannix as a fn with nn Max?

Dislike Maximus, Maxwell isn't too bad. I'm not 100% sold on Max either. DD is Maya and I feel like it is very matchy-matchy.

Mannix may work for a middle name. What about Maddox, with the nn Max.

I know someone with a Mannix, I think it suits him. Though its nms, I think it can work.

Since Mannix is an actual family name I think you get a free pass -- I like it better than Maxim and some of the other usual Max-nn suspects.

Mannix as a FN sounds very sci-fi and reminds me of the word "manic" which is kind of unpleasant...what about Maxwell?

I would use it as a middle name, not first.

I don't like it but since it is a family name and you'll call him Max (which means he'll grow up going by Max), it's not terribl. You might consider some names pps suggested, or Maxon.

I don't love Mannix, but because it's your maiden name, it becomes much more acceptable to me. If you just randomly wanted to name your kid this, I'd think it was silly. Plus the fact that he's got the option of nn Max, I say thumbs up.

I honestly really like that name Mannix as a fn. It's different and sounds cool. Kids might call him Manny which isn't bad either. I know a Manny and he is awesome. I like Max too.
