any tricks for getting liqids down them when sick?

J has not eaten or drank much of anything at all today. :(  I'm not worried about the food, but I do worry about him being dehydrated.  He has not had a wet diaper since about noon.  What tricks do you have for getting them to take liquids when sick? I've tried water (of course) tea (he LOVES tea, i used herbal), juice, and even a pedipop and he wont take anything.  Thanks!

  • You could take the medicine syringes from Motrin or Tylenol bottles and feed him Gatorade that way.  My kids always got a kick out of the syringe thing.

just tried that. he takes a tiny bit then screams and slaps my hand away.  Which makes me think maybe strep, since I know it hurts to swallow.  Gonna go try to make a smoothie now.

Oh poor baby, I hope its not strep.  Jakob and I just had that last week - for like the thousandth time, we always get it - and the only thing we could drink was warm water with lemon and honey.  I don't know if you could get a toddler to sip that, though.  Maybe if you let him play with it like soup, with a spoon?

  • We try pedialyte Popsicles and ice pops to get their stomachs settled and some liquid in them, and usually they'll start drinking a little more after that. Hope he feels better soon!

oops, you tried pedipops. Maybe regular Popsicles though?
