WDYT of Anastasia?

What does everyone think of Anastasia? 

My mom suggested it today and said Aurora and Anastasia would be super cute together if we ever have another girl. 

It's a name that I don't really hear that much. I think it's a really beautiful name.  Just curious on everyone's thoughts on it!

How are you going to pronounce it?

Anna-stay-juh or Ahna-stas-see-uh?

 I'm Ukrainian so the latter my preference as the "correct" way, just curious since most people seem to go with the former.

I really like Anastasia. Not a huge fan of siblings with matching first letters but I love both your DDs name and Anastasia - so if you and H like it, go for it Not sure if it is true or just from the film, but the Grand Duchess Anastasia might have gone by Anya?

I just think of the evil stepsister in Cinderella, and I especially think it is not good with Aurora. Sorry.

I really like it, and it has some really cute nickname options. I'm not, however, loving it paired with Aurora. The "A" beginning and ending are a little too matchy for my taste. If I met a sibset named Aurora and Anastasia I would probably roll me eyes a little bit. It just seems like you're trying too hard to be cute. Sorry.

My Aunt's name is Anastasiya...she is from Belarus in Russa. It is a beautiful name...and fits her very well. I love the name.

Love it! I knew a girl with this name and she went by Stacy and another by Stacia.

I love it but not paired with Aurora.  Aurora was Sleeping Beauty's birth name later Briar Rose when she went into hiding and Anastasia is Cinderellas mean step-sister.  I am not a Disney nut by far but watched all the princess movies as a kid.  If I heard your sibset I would think you were one of those super obsessed Disney fans.  Both names are gorgeous separately though.

Anya is a Russian pet-name for Anastasia, so that's actually quite possible, but other than that the film was very inaccurate. 

Anastasia is a pretty name, but its kind of one of those names where people use it for their kids just for the sake of using all the cutesy nns that come with it and I hate that about it. I mean, its SUCH a pretty name, so even bother why nns?

You know, i'm not a fan. I've known 2 Anastasias and they've both been good friends. One went strictly by Stacy (when I knew her in junior high), and the other, a current friend, goes by Anastasia (pronounced Ana-stays-ee-a) or Ana. It's just not my style. And I kinda think Anastasia and Aurora sounds a little Disney-ish..sorry.

I love Anastasia. I don't think its too princess-y with Aurora. I think its a nice sibset of not too common names. I do agree that others might think of it as being too Disney sounding, but I don't think it is. I also like Anneliese with Aurora.

I like Anastasia, but agree that it is too matchy with Aurora. 

I did not immediately make the Disney connection, didn't remember the step sister.

I LOVE this name...have considered it for my daughter but it's not my hubby's favorite and the meaning is borderline for me (I don't like religious meanings). I like the traditional pronounciation (An-ah-STAS-ee-ah) but I'm also afraid she'd have it mispronounced a lot.

I love Anastasia, I think it's a great name.

Just curious why we don't hear it on the board ever.

I really like Anastasia. I think it's definitley under-appreciated. 

I think the sibset would come off a little princessy, but only if you use their full names all the time. And you call DD Rory or Rora, right? Would you shorten Anastasia? I think Rory and Annie would be just darling together.

I think its really pretty. Since I think about the Grand Duchess Anastasia, it has a royal flair to it.

Thanks Hannah!  We do call Aurora majority of the time, but I'm sure when she's older we will call her Rory since that is probably what she will be able to pronounce when she's little. 

Love Annie and Rory together! 

Anastasia is very under used around here!  People need to get some new names here...

P.S LOVE Rhett and Pearl!  Both are fantastic names!
